The Box - arrival at boot Camp and your last phone call

Hello all again...

So my girl shipped out 7 days ago today at 1:45 p.m. PCT on March 21st, 2016.

Her plane left Washington State, changed in Colorado and finally arrived in Chicago Illinois about 10:30 p.m. est.

She still had her cell phone on her so she called as soon as she landed and before she could get on the bus while it was still "safe". LOL.

Once the recruit gets on the bus they make their way to the RTC.  It took about an hour and a half.  Once they arrive they start processing buy getting their sweats and undergarments and toiletry bags and boots and such.  She called almost 2 hours after the airport phone call.

They get to call home one last time before entering befor all items they have are to be boxed up and mailed home.  "The box" has al the items they are not allowed to keep.  I got everything back except her cell phone.  Now I am not sure how she got to keep that but she kept her ID and her cell phone.  I got all her clothes, backpack, ipad, and and wallet.

The call they get to make is scripted and it is about 15 seconds so be prepared:

Phone call:

Her: Hello

Me:  Hello

Her:  This is Samantha, I made it and I am ok.

Me:  (panicking) How are you is it okay,

Her: This is Samantha, I made it and I am ok.

Me: Is that is oh sh** okay I love you  be strong kick some a** love you bye (it came out all one word).

Her: Good-bye.

And that is the phone call.  That is it. 15 seconds of shear "OMG" and she was on her way.

I was so excited.  She started a blog before she left so that I could keep all her family and friends up to day on what I knew or heard the moment I knew or heard anything.  It was a great idea and I suggest you do the same with your recruit.  Its a central place to post any information. We all love it.

They say the box will be received within 7-10 ten days.  I received hers on day P-4 (Processing day - 4).  P is for Processing and the day of the week he or she is in.  Her first day at basic (Tuesday) was her P-1, so P-4 was Friday.  Saturday and Sunday are hold days and then Monday is back to P-7.  Processing week one is only P days.  The first day after P-7 is called day 1-1. So today is Sam's P-7, tomorrow will be 1-1.  The Box arrived quickly.  And don't expect anything like a note or anything.  they literally undress and put their stuff in the box and identify it and address it and turn it over for shipment.

Now, let talk about mail...

The recruits will not get much time to write if any the first couple weeks nor will their be another call until hopefully end of week 2 on Sunday which is hold day 2.

The recruit will fill out what is called the Form Letter.  This is a form that is sent home to all parents or the person they choose to inform them of their information for mail and graduation..I move on to that blog next...

keep up with me...I am excited to share my process to  help other folks understand from my point of view what we are experiencing on our adventure at home...

Love to all,

Blog - The Form Letter and Recruits address coming up...

Talk to you soon,

Check for her phone in her shoes. If she kept it she's in big trouble.

My daughter's phone was in her shoe.  Extra protection, came back intact.
