I finally got the courage to call my SR's dad and ask him if it'd be okay for me to stop by. He was so excited to hear from me and i stopped over there with his best friend Eric & his girlfriend Steph. we all talked for a good half hour or soo about John. I'm so happy everything is going swimmingly (no pun intended) with them because I was extremely worried. I also texted his mom today and let her know i got a letter from John. She thanked me for letting her know :) I think this is the start of a beautiful relationship!

Visits from gf's mean more then you know! My son's gf has been over for the night the last 2 weekends, we miss him as much as she does and it's comforting to know you can all get together and talk about him. She brought her letters that he had written to share with us and it was truly a joy to read them! Text, call, visit, whatever you can do to try ease the pain a bit. I thank God for her and that we are so close, after all, we're all in this together!

My son's gf is here right now. She went to dinner with us to celebrate my husband's bday. ProudAVMom is right is does help to stay in touch. She was on cloud nine today two letters in the mail and then the first phone call. We have a deal, she gets the call, but must share all the details. It's good to stay connected.

It's great to be close to their parents, from a girlfriends perspective!! I tried every weekend to go and stay the night out in their little town about 45 minutes from mine, to hangout and chat and catch up, I helped with housework and whatever needed to be done. I haven't been out there since PIR, it's been 1 week today since PIR, and I can't make it out this weekend due to being extremely tired and my car making funny noises, but I always make it a point to text them and say have a good day and such, it really helps!
