My boyfriend John left for boot camp about 3 days ago. It was the hardest thing to do, saying good bye to him. I'll never get the image of him walking away from me and back into his hotel out of my head. I gave him a letter to take with him to read on the plane and he called me one last time when he landed. I could not stop crying! I was prepared for all of the goodbyes and everything I just couldn't help but cry. I can't wait for the day when I get the first letter from him in my mailbox. Also, he told me to make sure I still keep in touch with his parents while he leaves, and make sure they're doing alright without him. I just don't want to feel clingy or I wouldn't know if they just want space or what. Should i stop over there? He said i should get my nails done with his mom but idk if thats really necesary idk!

Someone help!

Awww, your boyfriend sounds really sweet......I mean, to refer you to this website and to ask you to keep in touch with his parents?  I have two sons and as a Mom, I would think that his parents would welcome you.. I'd go by if I were you and see how they are....and you guys can share letters.   Hang in there!

If I were his parents I would love to see you.  You will remind them of him and vise versa.  You could help each other.  Good Luck!  Being a Navy girlfriend/wife is very hard.  Trust will keep you going.  I've been where you are and now my son is in bc.

My boyfriends parents and I stayed in very close touch while he was gone. Either I would call them or they would call me once a week to make sure everything was okay. I always called when I got a letter to let them know how he was doing, what he was up to and things like that. They loved it and so did he. He said that he was really happy that we were there for each other. It will really help you get through it too by talking to them. trust me! (: If you need anyone to talk to send me a message!

Personally; My boyfriends Mom and 2 sisters and I are extremely close. So close that his mom now calls me her "future-DIL" haha. I stay the night out there every weekend for one night at least, and hangout with all of them. & Take care of my bf and I's puppy. I think that making it a point to see them weekly(If possible, my boyfriends family lives about 45 minutes from me,) but if not, at least call them or text them weekly, or daily. I think it's made my bf and I grow stronger, being that he has 110% support from his family and me.

Thanks so much guys I'll definitely do that even if it's just sending a text saying hello or something. I'm sure when letters start arriving we'll have more to talk about! Nrose proud sailors girl I'll be sure to do that if I ever have something! Also I was just wondering if you guys would happen to know..when I get my first letter I know it takes a few weeks but when I send my first one how long does it take for him to get it in boot camp? How many letters do you guys get a week?

Depending on how far you live. I live in IL and im only 3 hours south of GL. And it takes my letters 3 days to get to him and his 3 to get to me. At the beginning it took me 2.5 weeks to get a letter but that's because his mail PO. Messed up:/ but when it started I got one set of letters a week. On Thursday only. But got multiple. Now I get them Mondays and Wednesdays usually

I live pretty far away, im all the way up in NH so my letters took about a week and same for his to come back to me. I got my letters on Thursdays and Fridays. He wrote a lot of letters to his parents and friends so I got about one a week by the end of bootcamp I think I had 6? So it depends on who else he writes to. After like I think 2 weeks of his sending letters he got to write more often.

My boyfriend clearly has no life, NROSE. Haha, I have 17 letters so far. Though, his parents only have 4, and his friends really havent written but once. That's okay though, I enjoy getting letters as much as he does(:

Haha yeah I live in NJ so thats pretty far from where he is. I don't really care as long as i get a letter! I can't wait until I get my first one. I think he'll probably only write to me, his parents, and his one good friend so i should get a decent amount. But who knows with him!
