My daughter called today to let me know she didnt pass the prone float of the swim test. She sounded so sad, but they let me talk to her for 2 minutes, I encouraged her and told her she will pass next time and that I was so proud of her. So she will not be graduating May 5th. Can anyone tell me what happens to her now. I feel bad because she was so sad, Im sure she will get it next time

There is still time for her to pass and have PIR next week. See the info in Battle Stations-21 (BST).

Don't cancel your plans quite yet. Like lemonelephant said, she will has a couple more tries in the next few days to pass. She is required at this point to call and let you know she hasn't passed, and at this point is not going to graduate.

If you were/are planning on attending PIR, hold off cancelling plans until next Wed if you can. You may get another call saying she passed.

Try not to sound discouraged if you speak to her.  They are already beating themselves up for not passing.  As a mom, I just pray that everything goes as it should.  If my SR is meant to be a sailor, it will happen.  I will be praying for your daughter.  I know how hard this must be.

Sorry Etrue2blue, but your son got it wrong. Recruits who miss their PIR date while in FIT (Fitness Improvement Training) will be put into another division for Battle Stations, but will not get a new date for PIR.  Once their training and testing is complete they are off to A school without any fanfare. No PIR or liberty.

There is a good article regarding FIT and other programs for Recruits needing extra help at http://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=54872 . The Navy wants these kids to pass. Over 90% of FIT participants will succeed.  Less than 10 Recruits a year are sent home because of inability to pass the swim test. They will make it. Hang in there.
