From my experience very normal.  After my daughters 2nd week I called her recruiter and he said this is normal not worry the form letter will come soon.  In fact, it actually came   the following week with her address.  So it will come soon, just be patient, I know it is hard to do and it was very hard for me to do but honestly the letter will come soon.

Hi everyone, tomorrow will mark the 2nd week since my daughter left for bc.  I still didn't get the letter with her address and graduation date.  I'm trying hard not to spaz out.  Is this normal?  I think I should have something by now?

Kylene,

Welcome new mom!!!  I sent you a personal welcome on your profile page.  Like JayDee said, make those special memories before she leaves.  Now is the time to have those Momma/Daughter talks like only we can do!!!!  Let her know there are so many moms out here that are proud of her also and support her decision!!  And we are here for you so you have a place to vent and question so you can always be supportive for your daughter!!  Remember, you are her safety net so she can vent, complain, and criticize and not get in trouble!!!!   Good luck to all of you!!!!

Kylene enjoy the time and make lots of great memories! My daughter made a list of things that she wanted to do before she went to boot camp. We took a great trip together and I still remember it.

My daughter came home from MEPS today. She ships out on July 11, it seems like such a short amount of time! We have less than two weeks to get ready. I’m so proud of her...and terrified for her at the same time. This site has definitely helped anchor my emotions. Thank you everyone for being here!

RaksAndRoll,

Your daughter is learning a valuable Navy lesson and may not even realize it!!  It's called "Hurry up and Wait"!!!!  The Navy will want everyone to get ready for something in a hurry and then tell them to wait!!!  Her orthodontist is giving her a taste of this now!!!!  It's good that she is spending her time preparing.  Keep us posted on her journey!!

Barbara,

These ladies are so spot on.  Those first several days of bootcamp are the toughest on our new recruits.  They are tired, questioning their decision, homesick - - - you name it.  And many times that first phone call is fraught with tears and emotion.  That's why we all band together to support each other so that we can be strong to support and encourage our daughters when they need us!!!!  I hope the next time you hear from her she is much better!!!

And for all my wonderful Navy sisters, having lived in Annapolis for 11 years (my three sailor kids were all born in Annapolis), I was deeply saddened to hear of the shooting there.  And then I heard the one woman who was killed described herself as a "Proud Navy Mom".  Even tho I don't know her that brought me to tears.  I hear she did a lot to support the Navy and the Academy.  We lost one of our own family!!  Just wanted to share.

Yep, it really is hard when they go to bc but she'll be fine Barbara! Hang on tight, it's a bit of a roller coaster but we've all survived and you will too. We're here for you! Chin up, she's doing amazing things and learning so much!

Comment by spyder013 on June 29, 2018 at 3:54pm
Jaydee is 100% correct! No worries, she will be fine and definitely over whatever upsets her when she's talking to you. WE worry and worry, nut they just had to vent and move on. They are clueless about how it affects us;(. This is the PERFECT place to vent yourself because we've all been there and truly understand. :)
