Ann, hope you're having a Fantastic time.

NavymomSATX, I know what you mean. My sailor was my youngest daughter who graduated at 17, turned 18 on June 29th and then the recruiter showed up at our house, it was a whirlwind, they drove her to Columbus (2 hours away) because she didn't have her license, to take the first and second test!  2 weeks later she was gone.  She had told us earlier in the year that the Navy had the coolest, best looking uniforms. LOL  (at career day at school) .  We lost a brother in Nam, no one since had talked about the military (my uncle and dad served)  my husband's family had one nephew in the Marines. (he just retired after 27 years).  I tell you we all held our breathe hoping she could pass the run and swim tests....
she did Great, leader in everything, did speed course for firefighter etc.... long story short she served 10 years and is now married to a Navy guy and has a 15 month daughter.  It's hard, VERY hard but we're all here to help you through. HUGS

I just wanted to stop by and update you (old) ladies about Nick.  I hope this works.

Sorry I'm late to these posts, for some reason I'm not getting notifications - I just happened to check : /

Anna, you probably won't get this til you get back but sending best wishes for a fantastic trip!!! We did a similar cruise last Sept - it was wonderful! Have a fabulous time!

NavymomSATX, our youngest was the only one to join the military so it was all new to us too. Both you and she will have quite a learning curve but that's what this group and others like it are for, so welcome! Come here often, there are wonderful & experienced moms here.

Spyder, you surviving monsoon? We had a massive storm the other night, sand storm warnings today. Gotta love July.

JayDee I love seeing you in ski gear when it's 115 here lol!

NavymomSATX your sailor sounds like mine. She was Chief of Staff in NJROTC and said boot camp wasn't a big deal. She left two months after high school and was 18. She's done well. Biggest problem in boot camp was shin splints. I was able to flatten out some Ace bandages and send them to her. My brother lives just north of you!

Hello ladies! I'm happy to learn about this group. My 1st born left for boot camp on 07/17. Anyone else in this group? I am looking forward to a road trip to Great Lakes, IL from Texas for her graduation. I am extremely beyond proud of her. But I do have any fears and worry something will happen to her. She is the 1st one in my family that joins a military branch. She's also 18 and just graduated from high school. But she has leadership skills. She was the Commanding Officer for the NJROTC in her high school. I am here to learn from you all as well you all can learn from me. Thanks again for the much needed support!

Ladies, I just want you to know I'm going to be quiet for the next two weeks!  Hubby and I are leaving Saturday for a 12 day Alaskan cruise which includes 7 days on the ship and then a train ride, 2 nights at one lodge, bus to another lodge and 2 nights there!!!  The lodges are at Denali National Park.  Then we're going back to Seattle to spend a few days with daughter in law and granddaughter!!  Unfortunately sailor son is deployed to Japan so we don't get to see him this visit!!

I'll try to get on if I can but I think we have to pay for internet on the ship.  And I don't plan on spending much time on my computer!!!!!  I'll catch up when I get back!!!  Have fun Ladies!!!

Lulubugg, you can also call the post office and ask for Military Care Kit - they're  FREE! Each kit has several boxes (I think 6 in all), 3 different sizes, packing tape and mailing labels. Here's the #: 800 610-8734.  I believe you can request as many as 10 kits at a time. I stocked up on these during my sailor's deployment!
