SailorsLIMom, 1st deployments are as hard as boot camp sometimes trying to stay connected.  Hopefully they will arrive at a safe port and she'll be able to e-mail or call you.  I agree just being able to stop in for coffee, take supper over anything close would be nice. LOL  I'm dreaming here.  My eldest is pregnant now and is only 2 hours away but with everyone's work schedule it might as well be 6 hours!  But I'm truly Thankful all my kids have found their way in this world and their helpmates.

JayDee, our grand dogs are the same, but gentler, not aloud to jump on Nana.  And I don't sleep with my own dog so not theirs! One sleeps under our bed and the other in our doorway keeping an eye on T's door.  The day we were loading up was Horrible, dogs and T out of sorts, dogs kept climbing in our van and T sat in my suitcase again.  If I put something in suitcase or tubs she Flung it out saying NO!  We still don't say good-bye, just till next time. At least this time I KNOW when I'm going back, plane tickets already bought for Dec. !!!!!  Long time to wait but have a new arrival coming soon so can't miss that. Plus 2 trips a year is all I can afford :(

SailorsLLIMom, I know just what you mean.  I spent the last weekend in April visiting my daughter in Norfolk.  Took me two planes and 6 hours to get there :(.  We did have a great time, but leaving was really hard.  My GrandDog was super excited to see me, she got one look at me, stood up on her hind legs and laid her head on my chest.  When I tried to move away, she gripped me with her paws and wouldn't move.  She even slept with me every night, just jumped up on the bed when she heard me brushing my teeth.  Sailor and I had a good weekend, lots of fun mother-daughter moments.

Congrats JayDee659's daughter!  It's such a long haul...I got my Phd eons ago and so much has changed, for the better. It's a touch community, a little like the Navy.  She's in an excellent position.  On another note, our daughter is on her first deployment.  Hard without contact but I know sort of where and when she'll be someplace.  Fingers crossed!  Blondie, the "kids-away-from-home" thing is almost worth a blog in itself. It seems like everyone I know has their daughter or son around the corner.  Whine, whine, I'm glad they find their own path, but still...just a casual cup of coffee, that's what I'm after, not a plane or car trip to get there.

That's Wonderful (for them)!   Who knows what the future holds, but she's on her WAY!  Hugs  (wish my kids were closer too)

Thank you ladies!  She's worked so hard for this, I'm so excited to see her reach her dream!

Blondie, Virginia Tech offered her a position as a research assistant.  Her boyfriend is about a year behind her, so this will give her the opportunity to stay with him while he finishes.  Then who knows.  I'm hoping she'll get something near me, at least maybe I can have one daughter here :)

JayDee That's GREAT!  I know how much work went into that.  Tell her Congrats and we're Very PROUD of her.  We want all our children to Follow their Dreams and succeed.  Any idea where and what she's gonna do with it?  Wishing her the Best.
