While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Wounded Marines
They will be in Afghanistan until Feb 2011 and it will be a continuing need.
Conditions/Requests : Conditions- Very dusty and smells like you know what!
Electricity- Some how lucky to have good 'ol 110V.
We live in fabricated metal buildings packed in tight.
Have small fridge/freezers, very few microwaves around.
I rep for our unit- 3 Naval Construction Regiment from Marietta, Ga.
Most of us are all from predominately southeast, then east coast with a
couple sprinkled in from as far as California.
We are not picky by any means, actually we are in awe of those willing
to support us. What ever people are willing to send we apprecaite
goodies, snacks, coffee and anything else.
We also are adopting the wounded warriors that come through our base for medical care, they could
use way more! They come here with only what is on their backs during
battle. Sometimes loosing some of that.
Socks, towels, shower shoes, sheets would be a great way to make them comfortable again while they
heal before returning to the fight.Also magazines and videos or any
other form of entertainment. If you can help them first they have a
greater need, spread the word, send it to me as point of contact and I
will guarantee swift delivery to their bedsides...
I will provide the address, off list, to anyone who needs it.

No, she has a piece of paper with the design. There are numbers of the order in which the pieces should be stitched. She places the first piece on the paper, covering the "block" that will have that piece.then she takes the second piece that covers the adjacent block. She puts it face down on the first piece, allowing a seam allowance, and stitches the seam between the two, along the line. Folds the second piece so that it is right side up and presses the seam. She continues around the section with each piece in order. Here is one tutorial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgr5JMxNfow) and I particularly liked this tutorial.

I never could get a count of any kind. I think it is because the numbers keep changing. I got the feeling from Senior Chief that they take the items to the wounded, then if anything his left over he shares it with his men (and ladies). That is why I'm just sending whatever I can get done by the end of the week. Of course, I will continue to send a box or two until they leave in Feb. I am hoping they will hand off the care of the wounded marines to another group when they leave.

Lyn, good news on the scarfs! I have been struggling to make one. For some reason this scarf keeps getting bigger width wise and I have ripped it out about 6 times. I am just not paying attention I guess.
anyway, hubby taught the high schoolers Sunday School class today. I sat at the back so I could crochet. I recruited a high school girl to make some. I took her several kinds of yarn tonight and told her that I need them by Sunday,. She has a nifty knitter loom thing. doubt that I can do stockings, but will try to get that fleece out this week and look at it. maybe I can cut a blanket. I'll let you know. are you just sending candy canes?

No, I don't yet have the address. I did buy some fleece today to make some scarves. Hope to get them ready tomorrow. Also I have some candy canes.

Lyn, I have a box going with 8 fleece scarves, four flannel pillowcases (embroidered with angels), two boxes of candy canes and two stockings, along with a lot of love! If I can find room I will include some tubes of tooth paste from my dentist.

That is so great. You can mail anytime you would like. It is better for them to recieve the packages over time then all a once. They don't have much storage area, so mail when you can.

They went into the mail today. I included about 8 tubes of toothpaste. I am not going to be popular. I included a tube with all the stockings I did for my g'daughter's shop.
