Reading the posts after battle stations, it seems that first phone call comes with the request to have a really good meal after graduation.

One of our fellow moms - just pointed out they have White Castles in Chicago!! Do you think this might be considered a "really good meal" for our new sailors?!!

Seriously, we live in the South and it is a treat to go up north and have a White Castle! But what I'm really looking for is recommendations for eating out that weekend.

I hear Chicago Pizza is a must try...any others?

Okay, I am a brand new Navy Mom that needs some guidance on how to go about using this wonderful web-site.

My son has been in boot-camp for over two weeks now and all I have received is his personal belongings box and one Navy form letter.I am so anxious to hear from him. I thought he was going to get a call his second week on Sunday but no such luck. I have not received a letter from him personally and just can't understand why.  I would really like to have more information on the time we are allowed with them at boot camp graduation. I am trying to make my travel arrangements. Can anyone help me out with this?

Lemonelephant, thanks for directing her to all the new important sites that she will need.  It is wonderful to make friends and look forward to meeting them at PIR.  Brings back so many memories.

Snuffsmoms, However did you find this 3 year old site??? We had so much fun writing it. We were just like you only it was 2008 when our son's were in bootcamp and the site had only been opened 2 months.  We started together, and got to know each other pretty well.  And we are still friends, even though some of our sons are out and some are still active.  Search and you will find a forum called Molly Adopt a Sailor. That is the same Molly that was here.  And today, her group just won $50,000 in a Pepsi contest yesterday to send to a Military hospital in Afganistan. Each month they adopt a group, Navy, Marine, Army and we went packages to them from Navy moms with love.  Hope you find the site as happy as we did.  Good luck to you
Snuffsmom, Welcome to Navy4moms. Lynn and I met on this site while both of our sons were in A school together over 3 years ago and we still have a special friendship. I hope that you find the kind of friends that this site has brought into my life. I am still very close with about 20 moms that I met through this site 3 years ago. We even meet all over the USA for vacations and packing parties for deployed service members. Good luck to you and your sailor.
Thanks so much for your reply, I really really appreciate it. I will try to go to these places she is directing me but as you can see I learning how to navigate on the site.
