My son is in this division.  Is anyone else's?

I received my form letter (but no box) and have sent out my first letter along with that great questionnaire and a SASE.  I don't think I'll get 'The Box'.  He was pretty adamant about not taking anything he didn't mind giving away.  Any word from your children?  How are you holding up?  I'm doing a lot better than I thought I would.  I still can't sleep thru the night, but I'm not crying at the drop of a hat as a was at first.

My son hates writing and reading, so I'm not sure how much I'll hear from him.  That's why I found that questionnaire perfect for him.  I'm going to look thru the other ones to send him another one later on.  Has anyone found any other cool things to include in the letters.

I thought I'd start this discussion to at least find out how the division is doing in case my son doesn't tell me much.  I think that if we all share (what we can share, of course), we'll be in the loop.  I don't know about you, but just knowing helps keep me at ease.  That's why I love this website and I check it everyday.

Notice, no last name  :o)

Hi!  I sent you a request (tonesbass).  My son has a different last name as I never changed mine when I married!

Good evening!  I so wanted a call on Sunday but it didn't come.  I hope that this week I get another letter.  It sure made my week to get the one last Wednesday!  Praying that 'hell' week isn't too bad (don't they start this soon)?

They start Hell Week on Thursday, Tonesbass.  That's when Week 4 Day 1 starts.  I'm so happy we are basically halfway there...  One more month to go!

Is Hell Week really a do or die thing?  I know it's tough but  i was told by a former Naval Officer that this week makes them or breaks them.  He really made me anxious about it.

MeMe are you on FB?  just wondering.  I think this is so great that we all have a place to chat, I hope you all are going to the meet and greet on Thursday...This is the one i am planning on going too...I can't wait to meet you all!

My son left on 2/23 I got my phone call at 2:38am that he arrived safe. This has been alot harder than I ever imagined.  I stood behind him with his career choice and still do.  I have received 3 letters not counting the info packet that was sent.  The last one had a special list for me to bring to graduation.. on which he put 300 peanut butter cookies with hershey kisses on them and a sugar cream pie. God I love that kid..I see that most of you have sent some sort of questionaire where did you get this.  My son has ask me to print off 1 to 2 page short stories and send them and also comic strips from the newspapers.

My son left the same day as your son, and he, too, has already sent me a list of what he would like for me to bring to graduation.  He is getting excited that the division is half way through BC.  He wrote, "I can do this, only 34 more days" in his last letter.  Four weeks from today, I get to see what a handsome figure he cuts in his uniform.  At the top of his graduation list is "mom's food".  Our hotel room has a microwave and small refrigerator.  I'm taking grilled chicken, salad, homemade yeast rolls, and homemade apple pie, chocolate chip cookies, the same peanut butter cookies your son requested, and cream soda.  His birthday is during BC - no birthday cake that day - but we will be celebrating when we get there for PIR.  Can't wait to prepare some of his favorite things for his first home cooked meal since 2/23. Planning on spoiling him for a few hours.  He finds the food at BC barely tolerable.  I've been sending my son comic strips and asking him to pass them about the division - a laugh a day, I think, helps with the stress they are under.  I also make sure I send him information about the latest news headlines (foreign and domestic), sports news, presidential election news - anything that will help him feel connected to what is going on in the world.

My son told me that we would have to find a place to meet since he thinks we won't recognize him.  He said they all look alike in uniform. I'm getting so excited.

Mine will have his b-day at boot camp too!

So cute!!!!  Linda, here is a link that contains links to jokes, questionnaires, etc.

I create a newsletter for my son.  I have a section on a story called Fallen Angels.  I copy into that section the chapter summaries of the novel.  Each newsletter contains one or two chapter summaries (depending on the length).
