I just got my letter! FYI - My son reported to GL late on Tuesday 3/6.  I live in the Chicago area. His box came within 36 hours and the letter arrived today!

Where is everyone staying for PIR?  I want to make the reservations now that I haven't heard anything from my SR so I assume that is a good thing!!  27 days left!  I will probably attend Sarge's meet and greet and would like to stay where there is an indoor pool/hot tub....I'm assuming my son will want to just chill with his GF rather than sightsee, and the pool is prob the best spot for that!

We are staying at the SpringHill Suites in Waukegan.  They have an indoor pool which we needed since we will be traveling with a 3 and 5 year old.  They have a Navy Graduation Rate and a great free breakfast.  They also let me reserve for Sat night just in case and if we don't need it we don't have to pay anything as long as we check out by noon on Sat.  They were very helpful and nice when I called.

My SR signed last summer too! He's going to be turning 19 in a few weeks. Curious if he's been mentioned in any of your boys' letters as the kid who dances and sings in the shower. He mentioned he likes to do that to ''lighten the mood' and give everyone something to smile about. He's a goofball. haha.

You are allowed to print as many gate passes as you need. You just both need the password. Then you can both drive to base if you choose to do so. My Ex and I both drove to the base. You can go to the NEX for a while after PIR but if you Sailor is checking into A-school in Great Lakes that is on a different base across the street so you would not be able to take the same shuttle. I don't think you could stay at the NEX until he is ready to be picked up because it takes 4 to 5 hours. He will have to call you when he is ready to be picked up. If you have any other questions feel free to post them on the Main PIR Group page or send me a private message. I am happy to help.

I got another letter today, and my SR said there have been a few set backs with the group as a whole, but that they were getting better.

I am beginning to think that every group has this issue, every time. I can't imagine a ton of men and women coming into a division and being perfect on team work, and the Navy wants perfection.

I made a facebook group for this Division if you all want to join!

I GOT MAIL!
Here's what he said. The RPOC is helping him with his shoulder (he injured it the first week of training and the pushups are hard for him) He said the chief is a cool guy but strict but he makes jokes and lets them make some too...He said they are all scared of chief. When they do pt he does it to and when they all get tired the chief still isnt tired. He's making friends with the other guys and most of the people are nice. One of the first guys he became friends with couldn't keep going because he was depressed and left the day he wrote. He said the stuff they do isn't too hard but it has to be perfect so that's is what is tough. He mentioned that this week is indeed "hell week" and they would be doing pistol training. Then he said hopefully see you soon??? Hope he just meant hope to see me at PIR!!  Good luck everyone else with letters!

I'm so happy for you that you received mail.  I hope your son's shoulder gets better soon.  My son was really looking forward to pistol training so at least that will help this week be a little better for him.

Did you join our facebook group?! There are quite a few family members on there for this division!

Did anyone's son/loved one used to be a physical therapist?  If so message me! My son speaks of him a lot!

Just joined N4M! I am a mother to my 1 year old sweetheart but the reason I joined is for support because my boyfriend is in this division! I've been recieving more letters than I thought would ever be possible and even had a short phone call about 2 weeks ago. So proud of my SR as I'm sure all of you are. 15 more days!!

Hi there... we also have a facebook page that we would love for you to join! Where are you from? Where is your SR going to A school?
