For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Well, ............ he's at bootcamp.
My Jay left for bootcamp Monday, May 7, 2012. We went to the MEPS center to see him swear in and sign his contract. It was soo emotional, but even though our eyes were filled with tears, our hearts were filled with sooo much pride. I still haven't stepped foot into his room. He called at 8:00 last night when they landed in Chicago. They were eating before checking in. We talked a little about how his flight was since it was his first time flying. Just chit chat.
He made his last call to me at 11:15PM. All that was said, was, "hey mom. I'm here. I have only a few seconds, so I'll call you in about 3 weeks." I just said, "OK, I love you, be safe" That was it..........the whole time I could hear a female voice yelling, "time up!" Ugh!!!! and it begins........................

And so it begins. That first phone call is precious, as are any others that he will be able to make. Please know that he is in a safe place, and that he is bbeing taken care of. The 8-9 weeks of bootcamp will go by much faster if you keep busy, which I see will be no problem for you.
It's a day to day process, and they keep the recruits very busy.

My son Jake also left for bootcamp on Monday, May 7th. My son left out of Dallas, TX. After saying bye to him on Sunday afternoon and talking to him that night and Monday before he got on the plane to Chicato he sounded great. I received the 15 second phone call saying that he was there at 12am this morning. In this phone call he sounded very different but said he was fine. I am just praying for him and all the recruits.

My daughter also left Dallas Meps yesterday May 7th for Great Lakes....the hardest part was watching her tears fall as she said good bye and got on that bus ;( But she sounded better when she called from the airport. She went to dinner with her group and made some new friends. Good luck to all of these future Sailors, they just looked like babies as I watched them swear in. So very proud of them all for their decision to serve!!

We have a Survival Guide for Navy For Moms Newbie (clickable link). You'll find everything you need to get started. Videos, PDF files of boot camp processing days, links to all the important groups plus tips on how to use this site. Keep in mind the videos and PDF files may take some time to download the first time you try it. It'll look like nothing is happening. But it is just downloading.

My daughter left for bootcamp on May 9th, 2012. I am missing her soooo badly. Any idea on when her graduation will be?
