N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Easter myspace comments, greetings and glitters

Chele:  Maybe you should take his Easter Basket with you to PIR and celebrate then?  Some like to celebrate the holidays missed all at once!  Holidays are hard, as anyone with someone in the military will tell you....but thank goodness for technology (once out of bootcamp !) that many times will allow some contact on these days!

Comment by Chele on March 31, 2013 at 10:11am

Happy Easter!  I'm very grateful for this group and site.  This morning has been hard with it being the first holiday my son has been away.  Tears flowing when I came out this morning seeing my youngest son with his Easter basket.  I am so glad that he was able to call yesterday(Ship 12 Div 177) for a few quick minutes since he didn't have much time and wanted to call his grandma who just got home from having surgery...plus he had a bad phone connection.  It did my heart good to hear that he is doing good, tired but good.

Happy Easter, all!I got my call from my son Ship  11/Div 186. He sounded good, said it was easier than he thought, but knows it will be getting harder. He likes the food..not like home cooking, but ok. I did not ask him about tests...next time. He said his drill sargent was tougher than me,LOL.. Said he will call me next week. Was happy that I was connecting with other parents...

ProudMama:  Tell your hubby that you are not responsible for your crazy emotions while your child is at bootcamp...it is just the way it is!  It's a "MOM" thing!  :-)  Poor guy though....I wouldn't lock him out of the bedroom!  Go cry in the bathroom next time....or take a long walk!

Hope he accepted your apology!  HA!

PHONE CALL FROM MY SR...SHIP 11/DIV 185 YAAAAAYYYYY :) He sounded great, a bit homesick but handling things well...already passed his physical tests and put in a teaching position with some of his recruit mates. Really likes the guys in his division...Division 185 Rocks :) His flag/division design was chosen and will be on the flag for PIR and Division t-shirts...so proud of my SR I could burst...really loves the food and hopes to call again soon. Probably will have two wisdom teeth pulled soon. But over all seemed happy with his choice of joining. Hope others have gotten calls too.....thanks for being there for me everybody....only 40 more days to see our Sailors :)

That's great Darcy, I'm excited for you to receive his first letter! We got cut off from our SR but at least hearing his voice for a short amount of time was enough for us until we hear from him again! We are looking forward to hearing about similar stories about who our SR is meeting, etc. soon! Fingers crossed we receive our letter soon so that we can write him as well!

Comment by Darcy on March 30, 2013 at 9:08pm

My Son said he is also Ship 9 now, he was Ship 11, but still Div 186.  He didn't say why it changed though, but he said he still got the first letter that I had sent.  He also said he can't mail a letter until tomorrow, it will be the first that he will have sent.  He said he is writing stuff every day that he can.  He said he got a note book to write down his friends nicknames and info.  He said he will probably come back with a Boston accent as one guy is from there. :)

Just received a call from our Sr, it was quicker than we would have liked but we found out he's on Ship 9, Div 185! Still haven't received our letter and it's been 2 1/2 weeks but at least we have confirmation that his PIR is 5/10 =)
