For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Not me, I hope you'll find someone here!
Have you considered looking on Facebook? There are closed family/friends groups on FB that are created for every OCS class. They will be called something like "OCS XX-XX FAMILY, if you use the search bar. In your case it will be probably 12-17. A family member with a LO in this class usually creates the group. You will find a very supportive community there. May I also suggest that you join such groups for a couple of previous classes - that will give you a clear understanding of what lies ahead for you and your LO.
Good luck to your LO and you! It sure is a roller coaster ride, but so rewarding for them to discover what they are capable of and for us - to watch them become the finest and strongest people they can be! -

YEAH! I was beginning to think he would be a class on 1! LOL
My son graduated Dowling last May and we have been waiting for him to be called up since then. We are all excited about him starting but would have liked more than an 8 day window!
Looking forward to meeting parents this weekend too!

Also look for Officer Training Command Newport on Facebook!! They post pictures of each class and some class officers post weekly updates.

Make sure your son has your phone number and email address written down or memorized, because his personal phone will be put into storage with his civilian belongings until he is allowed to have it back at the 9-10 week Candio phase. He will have to call you from a pay phone at first using a pre-paid phone card. When he gets email privileges after week 3-4, he will be using a closed government server and will not have access to his normal email program to look up contacts, and must type in entire email addresses.
