This is a Meet and Greet for families of recruits with a Pass-In-Review date of Thursday, May 27, 2010.

The Meet and Greet is sponsored by the Ramada Waukegan-Gurnee as a service to the families of recruits, and occurs on the evening prior to their graduation. Families of recruits in all divisions are welcome to attend, whether or not you're staying there.

The time is 6:00-8:00 PM, and free, hot hors d'oeuvres will be served. For guests registered at the Ramada, you will be given complimentary drink tickets, 2/room (not 2/guest). A cash bar will be available for non-registered attendees. The Ramada will also provide name tags, so we won’t be overly-taxed trying to remember the names of all our new friends!

If you are planning to attend, please RSVP and leave a comment below with the number you’ll have attending. We need to get an estimated head count to the Ramada by Tuesday, May 25th.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

I talked to the Ramada today, and they have lots of people comming in that are not on our list. So the flowers will really help us find each other. They usually have more than 100.
Lori I have 4 pair of scissors, and a hot glue gun (don't know why, it was cute at the craft store) If you need anything else just call.
We are leaving around 3:00 tomorrow :)

lori--you shouldn't say things like that, let alone think them. About us staying healthy--it could jinx us! lol Honestly, I'm still not all the way up to par, but I wouldn't miss this for anything.

JoMomVA--I read the post about getting together in the Visitors' Center instead of the USO, but for the life of me, I couldn't find the link again. I 'll take a minute to look through the events listed, but in case I can't find it, please add in 4 from our family for it.

I think I have a close enough head count that the Ramada will be prepared. Speaking of which, we decided to try and get there earlier than originally planned, so we called to check. It was a good thing we did, too, because there'd been some confusion about our reservation--only 1 bed in the room instead of 2! Yikes! Just got that straightened out, and then our house/cat-sitter canceled on us. What a day...

I won't be on much this evening because of all I have to do to get us ready on time, but I will check in occasionally to look for new posts. Again, thank you all for jumping in and making all these preparations!

AnnD - Miss Terrie is the super smart spreadsheet lady! I am just clapping from the sidelines on this one!

But I am willing to help with whatever I can for the "day after" M&G!

All the best to all you busy little bees!!

Ann- see that's why we needed you back- I totally forgot about the head count!
I've been so focused on the corsages and 'colors'. Can you figure out how many from on here?
Terrie has done a real good job of doing me a spread sheet thing to see who is coming and from where [div]. I've been adding to it as more come up.

Anyway here is the colors I had assigned to each div- I bought the last ones today.

195-yellow [ i have one definite coming and one I haven't heard back from]
196-fushia- 8 [ 3 definite, 1 maybe]
197-purple- 2 yes
198-orange-3 yes
199-red-3 yes
200-blue- 5 yes 1 maybe
928- light pink- 1 yes

This is just the moms/dad I will be able to hand a corsage to there. This does not include family members [ though I am making them for the ladies who will be joining them] or the corsages I'm making to pass out to those at PIR.
If you need a better count I can try and figure that out and send it to you.

I'm just so glad you are feeling better and your daughter- now hopefully no one else in your family gets it.

WOW! You ladies have been super busy! I can't thank you enough for keeping up with all the planning.

Is there anyone else from Div 198 attending the M&G? And, JoMomVA--did you put together a spreadsheet? I read through all the comments, and came up with a head count of about 26 people. Does that sound right? Of course, there may be others that aren't on N4M coming, too.

I love the idea of the corsages. I'd love to help with them, and should be at the Ramada in time (you're still planning on 5:00?), as long as we don't run into construction delays or anything. We're driving, so I can bring whatever craft supplies you still need.

I have to step away for an hour or so, but will check back in as soon as I'm home.

Nanon- you mean poor Ann! I'm fine- and pray I'll stay that way! I'm so sorry your husband won't be able to make it- that's terrible. He must be pretty sick if the doctor told him he can't fly.

Terrie- YEAH! I KNEW it would come in time! Don't forget scissors! I'm not sure I'm going to pack any. I'm up to 50 corsages now!

Lori we are glad you are feeling better. My husband has the same thing and his doctor told him today he can't fly. :) I there will be one less of us at the meet at greet and graduation. He is so disappointed, but he doesn't want to give it to anyone else or get worse on the plane.

YEAH!!! FOR THE RIBBONS!!!!
And SUPER YEAH FOR ALL OF YOU WORKING SO HARD ON THIS!!!! I totally wish I'd known in advance and I would have made my flight earlier! :) I will miss y'all on Weds. night. But I am glad you will get the chance to connect, and i hope many of you will hang around for a bit on Thursday after the PIR for that Meet and Greet. I figure it'll make the time go faster if we're chatting while we're waiting for our NEW SAILORS to finish doing whatever they have to do before we can WISK THEM AWAY for hugs and "catch up" time.

PLEASE SIGN UP IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY!! Come to the visitors center following the PIR and say hi to me! I just don't want to miss out on getting to meet each of you amazing people in person.

Blessings all,
~marilyn~

lori from Md: I didn't even realize it had been 2 weeks! I guess the first week was spent taking care of my daughter when she had it, and the 2nd week I did.
It seemed to take forever for the fever to break, but I'm at least up and around again! I still have all the upper respiratory symptoms, and the cough sounds horrible, but I'm feeling better. (I'm thinking that the flu shot is in order for next year.) The upside is that I dropped a few pounds that needed to go anyway!

Now it's a matter of playing catch-up and getting us ready to make the trip.
I'm getting ready to read all the comments...NEVER expected 16 pages of them!

I'll call the head count in to the Ramada tomorrow if no one else has yet, too. I'm not sure what you meant by flower colors, but I'll find out in a minute, I guess.
