It's time for Movie Reviews---the good, the bad and the ugly. What would you recommend? What have you seen you would tell others to steer away from? What are your favorite old movies you can watch over and over and over again? What recent releases should we all rush out to see to help us pass the time with our sailors away?

Rear Window with Jimmy Stewart. This is one of my two favorite Hitchcock movies. With a limited number of players, the suspense builds when the main character, laid up in a wheelchair due to an accident, suspects a back yard neighbor of murder. With a cast like Jimmy Stewart, Grace Kelly, Thelma Ritter and Raymond Burr, how could it not be but the best of a mystery thriller?

OooOoo. I think I will love this thread.

Okay, in random order, here are my top Fav's!:
Life is Beautiful (1997): I cry each time I see this movie.
Only You (1994): This movie may be cheesy. But I could see it over and over and never get sick of it. I love RDJ.
City Lights (Chaplin- 1931): My fav. Chaplin movie.
Father of the Bride (1991): Such a classic!
I am Sam (2001): I cry... wait no- sob through this movie each time. Very touching movie.
The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989): I don't know why I love this movie so much, but I do. Great cast. And I love the songs.
Elf (2003): I laugh through this every Christmas!
Mad Hot Ballroom (2005): A must see!
Love Actually (2003): Okay... has anyone seen this? That opening scene where he's talking about greeting people at the airport gets me every time. I saw this when I lived in Japan.
Home for the Holidays (1995): The best Thanksgiving movie out there...
Johnny Dangerously (1984): Silly, silly, silly movie. But my sister and I quote this movie all the time.
Death at a Funeral (2007): British film. So funny. A must see for anyone who has taken care of the elderly.
Penelope (2006): Great story, great cast, great everything.
Heard or or seen almost everything except Mad Hot Ballroom. Now I have to go to the movie rentals!
Catherine
I just realized after finishing the review of your reviews that I have not been out enough!
Time to get some rentals....
Oh, don't ask me. I have a thing for Bad Movies, oddball dark comedies and cult films. I dislike romantic comedies and serious heartbreaker films. I run from the Hallmark and lifetime channels!

Although I loved On The Town with Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra. Greatest sailor movie ever!
Oooh, oooh . . . just about ANYTHING with Kathryn Hepburn . . .
also LOVE 'The Princess Bride', 'The Ghost and Mrs. Muir', and plain FUN stuff like 'The Pirates of the Carribean' . . .
I loved the old version of the Ghost and Mrs. Muir!
Princess Bride is a fun new classic--thanks for reminding me.
