Good morning, and Happy Safe New Year. After looking around I finally found you. I do a lot of sewing (do craft sales). For Christmas I made My Sailor a blanket and couple of pillow cases. He suggested I find out how I can share with other Sailors (or any Military). So looking for information, do you use a certain material, size, and were can I send them? Do you put a little prayer on the corner of the pillowcase?
Mornin' mom! So happy to have you join us. I left you a welcome message on your page as well.
Good going on the blanket and pcs for your sailor for Christmas. And yes, you have found a group that focuses primarily on making and mailing pillowcases. We can and do send other things if there is space in a box, but our focus is pillowcases. Check out the new numbers that I posted today.
We have a couple of threads in the discussions about size, fabric etc. I prefer to have the crew mail them direct to our groups, but you can always send them to me if you want to. Saves money if you mail direct though.
You absolutely can put a prayer on the corner of the pc.
I am going to "friend" you and include my personal email address. Please contact me with yours.
Happy day!
Welcome momofc.r.!!! This is a fun group and it's oh so wonderful to send boxes of pcs out there!
Sue, I just got my machine fired up again and am making more pcs!! My Sailor is visiting until this friday, :( but will have plenty after he leaves. Please let me know when you need some sent. Happy New Year everyone!!!
I will put out my plea or post a thread on here once we know which group is 1st in the new year.
thanks for your support! Have a fabulous time with your sailor!

> Good morning, I'm SSG Michael, and I'd like to take this time to tell you that I appreciate the pillowcase that I received today that was made by you. I'm sure you made many, but the one I received was a superhero one, which to me, is the best one I've seen yet! I'm on Active Duty Army, and I've been out here in Afghanistan for seven months now, and unfortunately this is my fourth tour, but only my second to this country. I've been on Active Duty Army for twelve years, and I've grown to love every bit of it. I'm originally from Houston, Texas, and my unit (8th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade) is based out of Fort Hood, Texas. It's truly comforting in knowing that we still have patriots such as yourself that still support us. I must close for now, and hopefully this reaches you in high spirits. In advance, I'd like to wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year; hopefully the Holidays are a blessing to you and your family. God bless, and take care.

> They will definitely help with our laundry routines! Not to mention, the tents "Air conditioning" system really just kind of blows around a bunch of debris so it will be nice to switch out our pillow cases more often! Anything white turns to off-white pretty quickly!

Lyn,
Please accept my humble and sincere thanks on behalf of the Officers, Chief Petty Officers and Crew of the USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62). It is my honor to serve alongside and lead over 300 of the finest young Americans that our country has to offer. Your small token of comfort from home is greatly appreciated and rest assured that as we each lay our heads to our pillows tonight we are comforted in knowing that we are thought of and appreciated at home.
Thank you. All the best.
Very respectfully,
CDR Chris Exxxx
Executive Officer
USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62)
P.S. – Lyn – you did a superb job on my pillowcase and I can’t thank you enough. I’d like to send you a little something from Japan so please email your address.
Dori wrote back to him in a timely manner and I just wrote back to him yesterday. Here is his response to me:
Mrs. Lamberson,
I am truly impressed and marvel at the work you have done for my Sailors and those like them around the world. It may seem small but what an enormous impact those pillowcases have. Your comparison to a hug is entirely fitting. I think your goal should be to have a pillowcase in every seabag.
All the best and Happy New Year.
Very respectfully,
CDR Chris Exxxx
Executive Officer
USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62)
yes, it sure would be. Especially since we do the WW sometimes, and get special requests like below.
I have learned to just plug along and do the best that we can. For "tortoises" we sure do move fast. haha

I have "met" Barbara thru a friend who is involved with Honor Flights in Tucson.
I made a card and had the kids sign it. And I sent him a pillowcase from HAE.
yesterday, I got this email from Barbara:
Subject: Many Thanks-10,000 pieces of love sent to Mr Harrison
Seeing the photo of the WW2 Vet made me cry and my heart sing at the same time.
My dad is a WW2 veteran-he's 87. He won't take an Honor Flight which I think is so sad. My brother who is a Viet Nam Vet has offered to go as his escort, but no he says.
Maybe for his birthday in April, I could get you send him some birthday cards. He would like that.
Sue, I really shouldn't read stories like this when I am at work as it's hard to explain the tears in my eyes lol. I hope your father changes his mind about the honor flight but I would love to send a birthday card to him so please let us know as the date gets closer.
