For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

2nd Time Around - Looking for Former Navy with Children Now Serving
After reading a few of these entries, my husband and I began to wonder how many of his old shipmates might be out there that now have children who have joined the navy as well. We just thought that it might be entirely possible that folks he had know from his old navy days might have children that our daughter may cross paths with. (I know. I ended that sentence with a preposition,)
Anyway here it goes. He went to BC on April 9, 1985 in Orlando. He also completed BE/E school there. Then it was off to A school in GL. We went to Norfolk, VA in 1986. Both of our kids were born at Norfolk General Hospital (3 years apart). He served as an ET on the USS Coral Sea from 86 - 90, and was apart of the Decomm Crew. He then was sent to the NASSAU during Desert Storm / Desert Shield. (He corrects me. He says we shielded before we stormed.)

Yeah, my husband and I got in trouble for a hand-held laser pointer. Back then the only one the Navy really knew about was the very, very expensive laser rifle sights snipers used. My husband the uber geek and his geek friends had come up with a laser pointer that was about the size of a laptop computer.
We were messing with it, pointing it at the ground in front of drunks coming out of the club. And a random cat that was in the parking lot (we were probably the first people to play with a laser pointer as a cat toy, lol) and someone got freaked out.
About six MAs showed up at the door and all but broke it down. It was scary and hilarious and exhilarating. Then they tried to escort me off-base. It had a heck of a time getting them to understand I was actually a sailor too, and would come right back on base after being removed - so that I could go back to my ship, where I lived!

LOL My husband says there was plenty of "down time" on the boat, and it sound like to pass the time they came up with all kinds of pranks. I'm sure that our kids will do the same. A new generation of Navy stories. Family get-togethers are about to take on a whole new meaning.
