Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A School During December
My recruit will be at A School during December. Is the school closed for anytime? Will he be able to request leave for the holidays? I sure would appreciate a response. He called a week ago and that is the only thing he hoped I could find out about. Blessings to you all. Prayers daily.

All the A schools go into stand down. They can request leave, how long depends on which school they are at. Great Lakes allows for Dec 22 to Jan 6, they can "borrow forward" if they need more days. Other schools only allow a week, either Christmas or New Years. So yes he can take leave, but the details will vary. Be prepared for an expensive plane ticket.

I cannot thank you enough for your response! While I still haven't received any letters from my recruit (he's in week 5 now) the one phone call I did get he was really curious to know if he'd be able to take any time during the holidays. He sounded determined but so worn. Thank you so much for the time you took to respond to me. I will put this in today's letter to him! God Bless you friend!

My son will be in A school during December. He is thinking that he may not be allowed to come home because it is more than 300 miles. Is there any truth to that? His PIR is on Nov. 22nd.
