My son is PIR 1/14, we are flying out to adopt him and a buddy for Christmas day. If anyone else is doing the same, I am looking for suggestions on what to do in Chicago since I am assuming most things will be closed. We are from NJ and not overly familiar with Chicago.

I just found out 3 days a go, that I could Adopt him, I'm also from Jersey & flying out on the 24th. I made plane, car & Hotel reservations but I dont have the papers that I need to fill out. I called RTC & they told me they were going to give him the message. He had no Idea since I'm leaving my other kids behind for Christmas. Is there any other way for me to get the papers that I need to fill out & fax them back. & once i fax them how do I know that its been received & approved? If anyone can give me some info. Thanks
Can you give me the informaiton on how to apply to the Adopt A Sailor program for Great Lakes this Christmas.
Hi rosie, I called 1847-688-2405, I told them that I wanted to know more about Adopt A Sailor, I wanted to go see my son for Christmas, The asked me his name, division & ship. They will give him the message, he needs to send you some papers that you have to fill out & then fax them back. The deadline was the 17th but they are extending it. I havent received the papers yet. But mean while I already made plane, Hotel & car reservations. I hope this info helps.
Thank you!!
Thanks for the info. I just called and found out that our group isn't eligible for the Adopt A Sailor program. Only groups grad. on Jan. 7th and Jan. 14th. Doesn't make sense to me but I guess that's the military for you.
Jaysmom when did you get the paperwork, I called on the 8th & have not received it yet.
Does anyone know of any restaurants that might be open on Christmas Day?
In Chicago the Weber Grill Restaurant is open. Also all the major hotels will have their restaurants open for guests. For example the Bristol at the Penninsula is open also Palm Court at the Drake. I found a website called "open table" and it listed many restaurants open on Christmas day in and around Chicago. My problem is I have only be two the City twice and don't know where the sections of the city are that they reference. Mity Nice Grill is open and it is somewhere near the city? Also the IMAX theatre at the Navy Pier is open and as most of the Pier.
