Ok, So I'm not a Navy mom but my husband recently joined the Navy last September. He's through boot camp and is currently doing his A-school for EM at Great Lakes,IL. He finished BECC last week but now they have him on hold until they can get more class members before he can start ATT. They told him that he could be on hold for up to a month. My problem is that he's been so down lately because of all of this. I motivate him as much as possible but I can only cheer him up so much with me being all the way in Alabama. I'm going to visit him next month for a weekend. I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on what else I could possibly do to help cheer him up. It breaks my heart to see him like this. Thank you.

This time of year at Glakes can be grim and cold, it is easy to get down about it all. I know, been there, done that, even though it was ages ago, it hasn't changed. Encourage him to stay busy, to get into the gym as much as possible... not only will it pass the time, but physical activity is a great way to beat the blues. He should check out all MWR offers too, they set up all sorts of activities. Church activities if that's his thing. He might think that's all lame, but it truly helps if he doesn't sit and mope alone.
Crappy weather and holds can be tough on them. Just the weather alone gets to me. They are so ready to get thing going and learning they have no control over any of this gets depressing. Keep doing what you are. He will be ok. People are on hold at time longer then a month.
Hang in there
Thank you everyone. I sent him a care package today to see if that helps. I really hope he isn't on hold for more than a month. :( He's just so ready to get out of GL.
