I don't know how long my A School for AT is going to be and I'm having a hard time trying to find out.

Does anyone know how long it will be?

And where exactly it will be for that matter?

I talked to my recruiter and he said there are multiple locations where it could be.

And what happens after A School?

I leave for basic in two weeks and I'm starting to get scared.

Does anyone know how long it will be?

  • Common Basics Electronics Course, -51 calendar days
  • AT A-School,  -- 103 calendar days (some)
  • AT A-School,  -- 46 calendar days (some)

And where exactly it will be for that matter?

NAS Pensacola Florida

I talked to my recruiter and he said there are multiple locations where it could be.

Maybe if he's talking "C" school.  But "A" school should be in Pensacola.  As far as future duty stations, have

the recuiter log into the CMS detailing website.  It will list all duty stations for the next year for your rating.

And what happens after A School?

You go to "C" school, or go to the fleet, or go to shore duty at an aircrew squardon.

Be aware that any A school is going to be longer than the calender days,  You will experience delays and holds, going to indoc, waiting class up and so on.  But P-Cola is not such a bad place to be.

You may have your cell phone and a computer in A school.  They do restrict your liberty at first, until you earn your liberty privileges, you can't go off base alone, can't wear civilian clothes at first, can't just fly home on long weekends (there is a 300 mile liberty limit). You will live in a barracks room on base with two or three other roommates.  You will get to take leave to go home over the Christmas holiday when the school goes into stand down.  INDOC is where you'll learn all those details.

Anything else?

how do i get home?

do i have to buy my own ticket or will i get military stand by?

If you take leave, you pay for it out of pocket.  There is something called a MAC flight, BUT you can be bumped off that and also if you get bumped than you MUST pay out of pocket even more as you have to get to your duty station.  Also MAC flights don't fly everywhere.  MAC flight info
