For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

BC date is Dec 8th, when does our son leave the home for BC
Our son is leaving to BC on December 8th. We only live approx. 4 hours away from Great Lakes so he will not have to catch a flight to get to his destination. Does anyone know what is the typical process? Does he leave on December 7 and arrive to BC on the 8th? Feeling apprehensive for do not know any of these details and would like to make sure we are home the day he leaves.
If he leaves on December 7 he will be leaving on Pearl Harbor Day. (How special for him)

As I understand the process, he will not be allowed to be driven to boot camp by family.
Your son will meet his recruiters at the recruiter's office on the 7th, where they will gather his paperwork and give him a drug test. They will also confirm that he has not had any kind of legal trouble since their last meeting. The recruiters will drive him to the MEPS station in Milwaukee, and stay the night at a hotel in Milwaukee. On the 8th he will be taken back to MEPS at about 5 a.m., where he will finish his paperwork, take another drug test, and around 10 a.m. (ish, the time can vary) will be sworn-in as a US Navy sailor. You can be there for the swearing-in if you wish.
Once he's sworn in he will be with a group of other recruits. He will be put on a bus and they will travel as a group to Great Lakes.
