For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

There are 3 airports close to the RTC, Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport--ORD (located 30 miles from RTC), Chicago’s Midway International Airport--MDW (located 45 miles from RTC) and Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport--MKE (located 50 miles from RTC). Check the fares into and out of each of the airports. Some have indicated that they found less expensive fares to and from Milwaukee while others have found the best deals in and out of Midway.

We found that it was easy to get a direct flight into the Chicago airports, while flights into Milwaukee were indirect and required plane changes and layovers. Something to consider for those travelers who dislike airports. Want to save $20 by sitting in BWI for 2 hours?
Also, if your new Sailor will be flying to A school, travel will most likely be out of the Chicago airports, not Milwaukee. Why drive into Chicago to see your Sailor off at O'Hare, only to turn around and make the drive from Chicago to Milwaukee. Where is the savings in that?
The "best" airport is the one that makes the most sense to you. Investigate all the options.
