For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Badge
Bootcamp or A School Graduation?
Which is more important..... Bootcamp PIR or A School graduation? We live in Arizona and it looks like flights to Chicago, bootcamp, and Florida, A School, are around $500 per person; plus car and hotel. We are probably not going to be able to attend both. Which is more important? I have yet to hear from my daughter, so I can't ask her. Thank you!

Question for you experienced folks....my daughter's PIR is March 2nd and her A school is going to in Pensicola. I am told that she will be leaving at o'dark hundred on Saturday morning for the airport. We want to make sure that is the case so I can book flights out later that same day. I want to try to stay with her at the airport until she leaves. My question is ; have your rc's left on Saturday for Pensicola and which airport did they fly out of - O'Hare or Midway?

Attend the Boot Camp graduation. MOst of the A-schools arent that big of a deal. You can check in the groups and see what most say that do attend. But your money into PIR. Chec k out PIR Navy video's on youtube. You will get the idea.

I have been fortunate to be there for both PIR and my child's 2nd ceremony.
Perhaps you have already decided but let me offer my opinion as well. Being there for your child'a PIR is way more important. I was glad to be there for me but I think that attending PIR meant a lot more -it had been a grueling 8 weeks for him. The 2nd graduation ,(while not many parents attended so it was nice to one of the few), had a lot more inside jokes ,etc. I think too that my child was in a much better place so did not need me to be there as much.

My Sailors PIR was 2/3...it was an awesome ceremony...even though your time might be limited with him/her for the time you are there I definately recommend going...after 8+ weeks of no contact with them it will do both them & you good to see what they have worked so hard towards...becoming a Sailor...I am still up in the air about going to A school Grad as he will be in GL for almost a year (IF there is no hold)

Bootcamp PIR definitely. My roommate just graduated A school. Even the ship (barracks) did not attend.
