Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Welcome, ddsso, and thank you for your service. My LO graduated a couple of weeks ago, so I guess I am a "veteran" of sorts. Everyone here is supportive and caring, and we look forward to hearing about your fiance's success at OCS.
Start repeating the OCS mantra "No News Is Good News". Read the other class discussions and you will find out why that is. -

He will be fine....Everyone looses their voices in the beginning...It is hard but you need to take it in stride...It is the process they are going through...It is hard not to worry, but really they are in good hands....the journey will go fast...for both of you...important for you to stay strong and positive for him....and send cards/letters...they really need that type of support. Do not put anything in the letter/card but your written thoughts and newsy items...These really help...I send three a week spaced two days apart with little news items...(including the weather). My LO (Loved One) is probably one of the ones yelling at him (10-10 class) and I know means no harm....but help to him and support....The first week or so is the hardest..it is all the adjustemnts... The best of everything......to you both.

I've already put a few letters in the mail. I've read over and over on here PLAIN WHITE ENVELOPES, lol! My kids sent him Valentine's day cards they made for him in school. Hopefully those won't get him in trouble! Are pictures ok to send?

Pictures are good to send. Just don't send anything that will fall out :) and no food. You can send anything that fits in an envelope. That is awesome that you got to talk to him last night!

My fiance is also in this class, he said Charlie Group. We got to talk for 1 minute exactly yesterday, harder than I expected :( I guess I was just expecting to hear from him this weekend, not last night-caught me off guard. He too, had no voice-but they said they were feeding him well. haha Sent my first letter yesterday, just gonna keep them coming.

Our son called last night also, but we were not home!!!!! Now I'm afraid to leave the house after I get home from work! had no idea he would call so soon but at least I now have his voice on our answering machine.

I don't go ANYWHERE without my cell phone! I'm so afraid of missing his call!

Tonight I'm on edge thinking/wondering if ill get another phone call-just because yesterdays was SO unexpected. I have programmed the number he called me from to have a different ringer (hopefully its the same phone number each time/also did it for his cell phone number) so that if I hear that ringer, I can come a RUNNING to answer :)
