Daughter has been taken out of training at RTC due to stress fractures

Just to ask if anyone knows- since my daughter will be held back for 4 to 6 weeks on her training due to 3 stress fractures in her legs. Would anyone know what she will do? I've not been able to speak with her yet (she spoke with my son), so I'm getting info second hand from another teenager! But from what I understand, she moved to a ?medical division for recuperation and will restart her training later. My question is- will she be on light duty? Will she be able to have leave or any type of family visitation if she does get leave/liberty? I would love to make plans to travel up there if that's allowed. I haven't been able to find info on this on this website about anyone's experiences with this. Thanks so much for any info that can be shared.

There is a group for moms of kids in the medical unit (ship five? six? I'm sure someone will tell you very soon). They will have great answers for you.

She will have light duty, and she will need to ask her POs if their is work she can do to help them, or study materials for basic or her rate she can work on. She will not be able to take leave while in this hold period for sure, and I think their liberty is limited to an afternoon at the rec center if they're really lucky. No visitors that I've ever heard of.

Stress fractures are fairly common, the Navy knows how to edal with them efficiently.
Brendamax - while she is in RCU (Recruit Care Unit) she is still in bootcamp. She will receive care and treatment for her injury. My sailor was in RCU for 5 weeks then THU for 5 weeks after completing Battle Stations. They still have to stand watch, go through inspections, study AND heal.

My sailor did NOT PIR but finished his training from RCU. He was sent to RCU on his Week 5 day 1 so only had 2.5 weeks left to complete. he was not allowed to "train" physically until he was FFD (fit for full duty) but went through lots of physical therapy.

It can be quite depressing in RCU after the intensity of being in a division. My suggestion would be to send lots and lots of encouraging mail, cards, comics, etc BUT they can't receive anything any differently than when they were in their division. Unless your recruit has to go to the hospital for a procedure, there are no visits. They have to complete Battle Stations like all other recruits and then they get Liberty.

Please join the group Ship 6 (injured.... this happens to a lot of the recruits, they are either injured or become ill. The new ship is Ship 4 Div 2341 but the group is still active under Ship 6. The Ship # was just recently changed due to work being done on Ship 6.

You can friend me too and I'll give you any info I have and the experiences our family had.

Good luck and keep repeating, No New Is Good News, No News Is Good News.
