Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

I've been reading other sites for info about life after PIR but still don't know...
They can come home but will lose leave time (or be "in the hole") , what does that mean?
Can they leave any time after PIR? Does that mean I should buy him a ticket home? Will I get to talk to him about this???

got a call today and my daughter said they can have thanksgiving with family... I unfortunately don't think I can foot the airfare for Thankgiving AND PIR. :(

Dot mom, me either. From what I understand there are area churches and families that adopt the SR's for Thanksgiving. I have also heard that Thanksgiving dinner at RTC is very good! Susan

No I haven't gotten any yet. Since yesterday was Veteran's Day the mail didn't run. I am hoping for today! How is he doing? Any information about the division? Susan

He's tired and a bit homesick but he's says he's getting used to it. And he's studying harder than he ever did at the university. Sounds like they were about to get their first inspection this week and they all didn't want to get Intensive Training again. But they were making a flag for their division which sounded like fun. :)
Oh! And they do get upwards of ten days leave for Christmas. So the recruits do know. :) Which made me happy that they gave them something else to look forward too. -

My daughter is very homesick as well...her first two letters were quite depressing so I was glad to receive a call today and she sounds much better and is settling in. She told me about the leave for Christmas. Hope she is able to fly home with me and then to A school.

Bris Mom, Look in the main group under Holiday Leave for all of the information. They can go home with you for Christmas but have to take leave so they will go in the hole. My son doesn't care, he just wants to come home for Christmas! You will then be responsible for getting her to A school. However, she will be partially or fully reimbursed for her plane ticket to A school. She will have to submit forms for it. You will need to provide her with a written itinerary on how she will get from GL to home and then onto A school. She will have to turn it in. This was just a brief summary, all of the info is in the group I mentioned above. Susan
