We are doing these units. They are out of Wisconsin (of which I am a native) and were at Ft. Hood when the terrorist attack occured on early November. They lost several members of each unit. Dori suggested that we do something special on the pillowcases for this unit and we chose angels because medical people are "angels of mercy". Maryellen is our mom coordinator for these units. She is doing an outstanding job already getting us the necessary information.

467th - this unit will a combo of then bands of angels and the appliques on the pillowcases. There are 46 in this unit, 21 female and 25 males.

1908th - this unit will have also have a combo of both types of  angel pillowcases.  There are 46 in this unit, 12 female, 34 male.

Fallen heroes - we are going to give the family of each fallen soldier a pillowcase to remember their loved one. There are 5. Lyn has graciously said that she will embroider something special.  The Wounded will get the same type as the unit. FRG contacts. There are 2 and Maryellen will make those.

I am posting some other photos that were sent this month too.

I love the idea of stamping. I need to see if I can find an appropriate heart to stamp instead of stenciling!
Dori got me an email address so I wrote the soldier over the weekend. We'll see what happens.

Maryellen's BIL is still working on it.

Ally is going to make some the angel pillowcases as well. Lyn can do 14. Once we get firm numbers on this unit, we'll do a check of who is doing how many.
Maryellen has spoken to a woman at the base. She will work on getting this information for us! Should have it in a couple of days!

ALSO, this unit was split in half, so she will get the information on the other half as well. So we will need more angel pillowccases than originally thought.

This unit had 5 soldiers shot-3 died and 2 are working at the base. She will give us information for the fallen. Lyn are you able to do some embroidery work-just on 3 of them?

Seahartz I got your emails with the links. can you post on here? I have to leave for work in alittle while.

Thank you Maryellen for all of your hard work!
Of course, I have several Angels that I think will work. Are you sure you don't want 2 more for those that were hurt?
Will do!
Maryellen is the contact for this one. We will send out the address thru me and email. I don't want to post addresses on here.

Maryellen and I actually spoke today!! That was fun and we both were crying. And this woman at the base who is helping is just wonderful. Maryellen is doing a special pc for her.

We will know in a couple of days about both units. Lyn I will forward 2 days to you now. We thought because the 2 wounded will be going back to their unit, maybe just an angel pillowcase. But what do you think Maryellen? Something embroidered on their's too?

I like "In remembrance of" with the fallen soldier's name. Lyn, how hard is that? We were thinking it should be plain fabric, like you did the bulldogs.

As of right now, we have the following making the angel pillowcases:
Maryellen, Lyn, me, Dori, and Ally.

I'm going to post the links that Seahartz gave me.
Sue, I found some angel fabric on line with male angels. It is expensive so it would have to be used sparingly. Now even more expensive is some fabric with patriotic angels.
The bear angels are cute. And I really like the angels on navy with candles. And then for us there are sewing angels.

If you look at the close-ups, you can see how you could create a patch with the angels and make the fabric go a long ways.
That is wonderful news Maryellen! WOW is all I can say. Please keep us posted. I have taken Dori off the MASH unit and put her on the angel squad.

I will get to work this weekend on my angel ones and I have a couple of more people working on that angle.

thanks for your help!

Dori, love those patriotic angels. didn't like the male ones, couldn't see the bears or sewing angels. I have figureine of a sewing angel.
Sue I was not as wild about the male ones. The one I loved was the silver angel on navy fabric. It was so peaceful. I may splurge to get some. The bears are "cute." The sewing angels I would not send but I did think about us.

I have to go to Bangor next Thursday. I've thinking about splurging for LOTS of bright, cheerful fabric for the "bodies" of the pillowcases. Somehow given the desert conditions, bright colors seem appropriate. Maryellen if you can give me a heads up on how many you want me to make, it will help.
Looks like I will have 14 and they can be used for either males or females. My husband says they will work fine for either one.
Maryellen, I do not have any made yet. Sue is sending me some angel fabric and I have ordered some on-line. I am also going to "hit" JoAnn's on Thursday (Jan. 14) while I am in Bangor for a doctor's appointment. Do you have a target mailing date? Please don't tell me mid-January or I can't meet that! They will be there for a while so why don't we target Valentine's day?
