Hi! My saga continues..when my son left for bootcamp on 7/28 the navy recruiter said not to make any changes to health insurance coverage until he completed bootcamp. I followed his advice and did not make any change until the next business day after bootcamp graduation. My benefits administrator refused to remove him from my policy saying I did not notify them within the 60 days of start of new coverage and therefore must wait until open enrollment. I have sent them info from Tricare website showing that there cannot be any coverage other than Tricare but still no budge...not sure how this will turn out but I did call my state of Georgia insurance commissioner office today. I will keep ya'll posted.

I sent my son's proof of coverage document into our HR department.  I have asked them to provide any information that I will be required to provide to remove my son from the policy.   I think I will ask if we have an appeal process!

Happyone00 I just cant believe they just don't take our word, I have not been there yet but at the end of this month is my renewal, I hope they don't give me the runaround. This all seems so pity. I'm hoping I get my letter soon though, I don't have the patience to deal with nonsense. Hope all goes well keep me informed and I will do the same and let you know what they tell me. Fingers crossed! Have a Great Day!

I am so frustrated with the whole mess.  I will chalk this up to a $500 mistake.  I should have notified my HR department within 60 days - no exceptions is what they are telling me.  Good luck with your situation!    :-)

What do you mean? you have to continue carrying him?

Yes, through the end of the year.  I can drop him during open enrollment.

oh ok, I thought you were going to have to continue on.....My open enrollment is at the end of this month....Keeping my fingers crossed. I am sorry to here about the problems...They need to make it easier for us parents since everything is so hush hush.

Yep!  I am glad we have this platform to share info -  Have a great day!

You also, I will keep you posted if anything comes back to me on my open enrollment.

And this still in effect. www.google.com" target="_blank">https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/10/20/health/irs-obamacare-mandate.html?referer=android-app://com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox/https/www.google.com
Link didn't copy right, but was article from NY Times stating IRS will reject tax filings without heatlth insurancr disclosure again next year. Guessing you both will be claiming your sailors as dependents this year based on the percentage of the year they lived with you,so another reason to have paperwork in order.
