My son leaves for BC on June 10, 2013 from the Dallas area. Anyone else leaving at this time. He just joined last week and I am scrambling to learn as much as I can to help get him ready!

My son leaves June 11th from the Raleigh area.  He signed up last summer but the time is flying by so quickly.  He will be in the Nuke program.  Anyone have an approximate idea of when PIR will be??

Should be Aug 9th. Depending on how long processing takes or if they get put into a division all ready started, it could be the Friday before or the Friday after.

Teacher5, I agree that PIR will most likely be on 08/09/2013 by counting 9 Fridays, but it could also be the week before, 08/02/2013, if he is among the last to fill a division from the week before and is in a Push Division. You will not know the PIR date for sure until you get the form letter about 10 days after arrival.  See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) for more on that and join the group while you are there. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC to help you prepare.

Tracy, you will also want to check out that info even though you do know how it could work out.

NavyMomIN x 2, Your conclusion that some who arrive at the beginning of the week will have PIR on 08/02/2013 is good, but the reasoning is just a little off.  Those arriving the week of June 10 will most likely have PIR on 08/09/2013 by counting 9 Fridays.  They all begin processing upon arrival.  Some who arrive at the beginning of the week (on Monday or Tuesday) may be in a Push Division and only have 8 Fridays and will graduate on 08/02/2013 because they are fillling a division from the week before that is in the previous TG.  Some arriving at the end of the week may be in a Push Division and have 9 Fridays and extra days in P-Hold and have PIR on 08/09/2013, while others who arrive the next week to fill their division will only have 8 Fridays.  See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) for more on how that works.  You can also see more by looking up "Push Division" in What does ??? mean?  (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology).

Yes, you are right; it really is not that big of a deal for most because the RDC's push them all to be ready within the time given.  Yes, those who go through last sometimes have less time in Ricky Heaven because they still have to practice for PIR on Thursday after having BST the night before--it all depends on the division and the RDC on how much time they get to celebrate being new Sailors.

My oldest son leaves on the 11th from Florida.  He's anxious to go and would have loved to ship out sooner.  I'm glad he's going to be here for my youngest son's graduation June 7.  He ships out on July 18 so we'll be having a great big party for both boys.  We're getting into the scramble mode getting the oldest ready to go.  The only good news is that I can do all the accounts and paperwork at the same time so both boys are ready to go by May.  Well, at least that's my plan.  The oldest is going into Aviation Electronics and the youngest into AECE.  Basically, they'll be doing the same thing, just one on aircraft and one on the carriers.

My son leaves for BC on June 12,2013 from the Boston area.So much to do and learn

My daughter ( Breahna) leaves on June 11th 2013. It has been a whirl wind! She told me in April....had MEPS this past Wednesday and leaves next month! I luckily found this site....she is my rock! My best friend..we have never been apart more than a night! This is soooo hard but I am 100% supporting in her decisions... she is 19 and been in college this past year...just wish she would have finished college first... lol. Hope to meet moms on here with children in her group...God bless us all and give Us and our brave children strength!!
My son leaves June 10th from New Jersey. My son joined a few months ago so I can imagine you ARE scrambling! You'll find this site to be very helpful and informative. Good luck to you and your son! Where is he heading after boot camp?
He thinks it will be Pensacola, but not 100%. He is going to be an aviation machinist. I do love this site! So helpful!

Yes, Aviation Machinist Mate (AD) has "A" School in Pensacola, FL at Naval Air Station Pensacola. Sometime between now and the end of BC, join AD Moms, girlfriends, and families, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!, and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola. The Rating Information Card for AD can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ad.pdf.

Thank you! I will definitely do that! Do you know how long "A" school will last?
