I have that it is about 6 weeks based on the info in the Rating Information Card. It could be longer if he is in holding waiting to class up.

My son is heading to Pennsacola as well (I think). He's training to be an Aviation Rescue Swimmer. He's so excited and so ready to go. Not a bit nervous - so unlike me! LOL

Hi my son is also leaving on 6/10 from Maryland. Also has a contract for AIRR.. he isn't nervous either just wants to be there. Wish your son the best

Be sure to check out the info I gave below.

Hello Debtom!  I noticed the closer it gets to his departure date the more talkative he's gotten which for my son means he's getting a little nervous! LOL  Wishing your son safe travels and the best as well.  Please keep in touch and hopefully we can meet at PIR!  Enjoy this last week with him! :)

My boyfriend also has an AIRR contract. He graduated from boot camp on Aug 2nd and just classed up so he is in his second week of AirCrew school. How long was it before your son classed up for RSS? or has he yet? We're just curious on a lot of things still. Do you know of anybody will AIRR contracts that have already been stationed?

DANSMOMNJ, What will you future Sailor's rating (job/specialty) be?  There are groups on here for most of the ratings and/or "A" Schools.

Aviation Rescue Swimmer - AIRR

Check out the Page, 800 and 900 Divisions, within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) since he will be in an 800 division. The group and Rating Information Card are included there, and you may also want to join Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!! and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola.

Thank you!  Definitely will!

You are very welcome.
