Hello Ladies,

My son just left on December 6th.  Then about 11pm the next night I receive his "Hi I'm here your gonna get my stuff soon" phone call.  About how long does it take to get any letters or notifications  (address or addition info) from the recuit or the Navy personnel?

Thank for any information.

My son just had his PIR Friday, 12-3. He got to GL on a Tuesday evening. I am thinking by the end of that week I had his box and the next week the info about his PIR and how to contact in case of an emergency, etc. There was also a nice little note attached at the bottom. The first phone call I received was the end of the second week concerning security clearance info, but I don't think that was a "normal" phone call.

I would encourage you to start writing notes and keep them until you get his address. My son was so excited about getting mail. I had several friends and family members writing to him!:) It is hard to write about the day to day, but start thinking of questions for him to answer.

Good luck to you!

Thanks for the advice Andie3.

Besure to join the "Leaving for Bootcamp in December group"

my  youngest daugter left on Dec 6 th as well.. she left from San Antonio Tx she told me she will call in about 3 wks.. My oldest daughter went in Feb 08 and I can't remember when I got her box.. or her first letter.. it certainly was much harder when my oldest one left... 2nd time around came much easier.

So glad to know that it gets easier! My oldest left in October, he is now in Monterey, CA. I have about 5 years before my next one goes!

Emily here is the link to your PIR group....lots of info and support http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir21111
