I have been in touch with several of my military contacts and have heard back from a couple.

group 1: forward medical unit in the Afghanistan.   200:  25 sailors, 175 Marines. 15 female.

3-10-10 update - I will mail the balance of 20 on 3-11-10.  thanks for your help!

group 2:  This batch of whatever number we send is going to Afghanistan also.  Dawn is a civilian employee who is retired Air Force.  This is what she said today:

Did you want the address of a unit or did you want to send them to me to distribute to the female soilders?  Unfortunately there are no all female units.  I will be heading out to some smaller forward operating bases (FOBs) on the front lines once a month and think the pillow cases would make more of an impact there as little luxuries are non-exixtant.  Whichever you prefer.  Also, if you have any bakers...they love fresh baked goods!

So mailing to her is the way to go for a personal delivery. Just general ones for now, as I don't know what services she will visit as yet.   I know many of you just mailed, but if you want to send some to this group, email me for the address.

yep....cheeseburgers and firecrackers! I love the fun stuff!
where did you find that print?
I got it at JoAnn's about a month ago
I'm heading there tomorrow so will look for it.
I have been really bad about hearts. I wanted that and haven't kept up. Will try harder. haha probably not. I guess I should do that when they come in instead of when I am mailing.

I did get some of the hamburger/firecracker fabric today. Really cute. And Jo-anns had new patriotic prints. Only had 2 coupons to use, so will get that another day.

mailed these to the Air Force guys from Molly's group that wasn't getting any mail. Several moms besides me sent pcs for their adopted sons, so I offered to mail to the rest from the mom thru the Heads at Ease program. Wow, that was a mouth full. I made the Snoopy surfer dog which Yankee's mom bought and mailed to me. Love our connections and how it all works for our military!

Love these!! Sue, what do the stickers say?
Glad you found the cheesburger fabric. I just got new coupons so I'm sure I will be there this weekend. Cant wait to see the new Patriot prints.
Sue, Those are cute. I like Snoopy, of course. And I also like the one by Snoopy - the one with stars and stripes.
I know. I love that fabric. that came from a crew member in NE.
Sue, the total is right but I mailed 4 females not one. So it would be 4 Navy, 10 generic, 2 angel, 4 female
thanks for telling me that. I'll fix it. The stickers say the Airman's name and who it is from. For example on the snoopy one To Jarvin xxxx From: Yankee's mom, only I used her name.
sue, I see that you are going to send the balance but I just took a count of my stash ---

5 - Navy (nautical prints)
9 - Female
2 - Male (John Deere camoflage)
16 - General

Please let me know if you would like me to send any so that you don't have to send so much of your stash. Sorry to take so long responding. Just trying to catch up from being gone a few days this week.
Natalie, I have been at a craft fair all day. Yes, that would be great. Why don't you mail the 18 that are male/generic and 1 female. We don't need anymore of the navy print, the rest are marines.

Thank you so much! This picture is the what Cheryl sent to this unit. She's got some great prints! Thanks you!
