My son left for boot camp on 10-5-10 and we have only received a breif call that he arrived at 12:10 am Tuesday morning. We just received the offical letter from the navy with info. on boot camp and graduation. My son wrote a few lines and that is all we have received so far. This is the hardest thing that I have ever had to deal with in my life. I never imagined it would hurt so much. I feel like part of my heart has been taken from me. I miss seeing him talking with him and doing things with him. I would always keep in touch while I was at work with texting and calls . Even though he may of been out with friends I knew he wasn't far and was coming home later. I think about him every minute of the day and cry all the time. I feel as if I don't have the right to do anything and enjoy myself in anyway because of what he is going through now. I have worked and stayed in the house since he has left. The only thing that I have to keep me going is his graduation day. How do you find out if there are any local support groups for moms in your area?

sshea please join your PIR group (Pass In Review=graduation) there you'll find lots of support in info as well as connect with N4M's from his division...that will help connect you with him.

The first few weeks are the hardest then the letters and occ call start and also you have your PIR group...things startt o get better.

He should get a call around week 3 (Maybe week 4 to you) watch for the 847 area code and the id will say payphone. He will get to start writing and mailing letters around week 3 as well...he won't get your letters till about the same time
Thank You for the information. Where can I find the PIR group?
Thanks so much for all of your help and information and sites . It is comforting to hear from so many people with all of this knowledge. The videos on boot camp and the racks were great! When my son wrote his first letter yesterday the address was different then the address from the letter sent from the navy. His address yesterday had his ship on it instead of Training Command will he still receive his mail with Training Command? I have sent out so many letters already with that address as did friends. Should we all put the address with the ship name on it.
Also go to your profile page and scroll down to read comments left for you there...
when is his PIR?
