Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son said the same thing, Momof3. He wants good running shoes. After suffering through shin splints, he needs really, really good ones.
My son's fiancee got the call and I got about 5 remaining minutes. That's ok, though. He said he is very tired. They haven't slept for 36 hours and he mentioned the division having a pizza party on Thursday.
As in my sailor's words, "Mom, we kicked butt!"
Gurnee Mills at 6170 W. Grand Ave. in Gurnee has a few shoe stores. They have Champs Sports, Finish Line Outlet,Foot Locker Outlet, and Payless ShoeSource. It is a huge outlet mall and you should have some luck.

We went up to Libertyville (BEAUTIFUL TOWN!!!) and wnet to Runners Edge. It is a quick drive up and there are some wonderful places to eat in the area. The people at the shoe store were very helpful and give a military discount.

By late afternoon I took a ride to the Library to pick up a book; I missed the call.
My wife got the call and talked for 15-20 minutes; she called me and I knew he called by the level of HAPPY coming through...
His girlfriend called us shortly after.
She had left her phone for a few minutes to talk with her boss and she missed the call.
I don't think she'll get over it till she sees him, and then I wouldn't be surprised if she'll need a cry...
Well everyone, it's really here...we fly out tomorrow night !!!
This has been the longest 56 days of our life !!!

I just found more pictures of 816 on the Naval Recruit Training Facebook page. There are about 8 pictures of the division working out at Freedom Hall. There is some new type of Jaguar timing system used for timing the recruits. Only a few pics are close-ups, but you might see someone you know!

We have an absolutely awesome division here--and awesome families of those terrific young men!
Please, let's stay in touch after PIR. I don't want to lose the friendships created here. We have been through so much together!

Just wondering...did any of you in 816 hear what their score was in BS? A 200's division got a perfect score. Isn't that marvelous? They must be super thrilled. The score my son told me was "We kicked butt." What do you think that translates to in military score?:-)

Phew! I was so worried that your son would be waiting for you for a long time because I gave you the incorrect time! I felt so bad...I wished I had your email address so I could contact you another way. As it turned out, my son didn't get to the gate until 6:50 or so. He slept in, too (until 6).
I don't know what 298 is....could you fill me in? Just curious.
We are relaxing at home for a while. It is that kind of day. My sailor is taking a little nap and I feel like I am ready for one, too!
