Hi Debbie, my son is in this Div also.  He left on the 15th.  I'm trying to figure out what exactly it is they do.  My son said 900 divisions are special divisions like marching, riffle, flag, band, etc but he didn't tell me what his division is.  My son didn't go any of this.  He played high school and semi pro football and he helped coach basketball.  Any insight would be great.

the only thing i can think of is my son was in rotc for 4 years and did drill . i was thinking the same thing and thats all i could come up with.

That makes sense for your son.  I read somewhere on this site that those that participated in ROTC were often selected for various 900 div.  The only non athletic program my son participated in was the chess club.  :-)  I'm still not sure where or how he fits in.  Oh well, I guess we will find out soon enough!

Good to find others that have a child in this group too. My son left on May 16 from Portland, Oregon. We haven't talked to him yet, but are hoping he will have the opportunity to write soon. I am interested in what this division does too.

I read that they usually get 3 phone calls.  One to tell you that they arrived safely, another after about two weeks and the third as they close in on graduation.  I hope that's not right because I would like to hear from him more times than that!  I got the first two calls already.  I wasn't able to get to the phone the first time so I just heard his message.  The 2nd one was about 10 minutes and he spent 8 of those talking to his 11 year old brother.  He told us that they would start sending out their letters this Sunday (June 2nd).  One thing he said was to send him lots of mail so I'm assuming all of them have nothing to look forward to other than mail so send your son lots of letters or post cards.

Hello Ladies! My husband is in the same ship and division :) He left from San Diego May 16. I got the first call when they got there, but still waiting for the second one. It should be coming next week, I guess. I was able to talk to my husband last Tuesday and he said they are not yet doing anything on their division. He said they always get scolded because of talkative guys, lol. Daryl's mom (Ship02 Div935), when did you get your second call?

Hope all is well with you! :)

I'm still waiting on my second call and first letter. :(

me too! :(  He's going for IT, so he gets the occasional chance to call, just to ask for some requirements. He called me last Tuesday (5/29) and he said that their petty officer let them write last Sunday (5/27). Our mails might be a little delayed due to the holiday, and especially for me since i'm over here in Los Angeles. Hope you get your letter soon! I'm guessing the 2nd phone call will come sometime next week (3 weeks from when they arrive in BC). Let's keep our heads up and try to be cheerful! :)

I finally got my phone call!!!! He said that things are going well, but people in their division keep messing up lolol. He also passed his test and made E-2 which he was super excited about :).  Overall he said things are going well.

Sorry for taking so long to respond but we got our second call on the 29th. He said he would be able to call again until just before graduation.  Hopefully you have received your call by now.

Hi everyone, my son also left from San Diego May 16, I've gotten his first call & box. Still waiting for a letter & or call from him. He is my only child & its hard not hearing from him. I've been writing to him like crazy lol so has most of our family. I can't wait until I hear his voice & see him at graduation!!! hotel booked, just waiting on my dad to get the days off & we'll be booking our flights... What's killing me is my husband is also Navy & in Japan until June 15 or so. He wasn't here to see him off :/ but he will be home for graduation YAY!!! Question can we do a sign so our son know where we're sitting? It's good to meet everyone on this site & hope to meet some of you in July....
