My husband sent me a form saying I could check him out of boot camp on Christmas. Is this true? Also I wanted to know could I live with him while he is in A-School? He wants me to stay in Chicago after I drop him back off at boot camp on Christmas. If I can't stay are there any hotels where I can receive a discount to stay there for 2 months during his schooling?

Yes, you can check him out for Christmas Day if you return the form in time.
Only those student sailors whose A school is longer than six months can request to live offbase with a spouse (Live Ashore, brown bagger). And if he does not have permission to Live Ashore, he can only spend the night offbase on weekends, and only when he earns phase three liberty , and never on duty days. (Will be different when he reaches the fleet, training commands have stricter policies).
This is the liberty policy for Great Lakes, make sure your husband knows about it.

He is in a very emotional state of mind now, moving to Great Lakes may not be a good decision if you will not see him very often, or if he must rush back to base each evening. Also, the schools take longer than the stated seat time, you could be there three of four months in real time. That would get expensive in an extended stay hotel. Of course, if it is better than where you live... also the BAH will change to the Great Lakes zip code, so he will need to deal with that for you too.
