OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Maybe. If your sailor will be attending A school at Great Lakes, then yes.
If not, they may fly out on the 4th. Maybe not, but only they will be able to give you their specific travel plans once they have been issued.

Last year those flying out to "A" School DID fly out on the 4th. Plan for you to leave on Saturday.

When a Sailor departs for A school is a function of available seats on commercial airlines. I wouldn't put too much stock in what happened in prior years. Anything is possible, including Grad & Go.

I agree, anything is possible, but it is most possible that he will fly out the next day.
Grad & Go is an outdated term. By the old standards nearly all new Sailors are Grad & Go since they depart the RTC within 24 hours of PIR.

Just saying that if there are a limited number of available seats on the 4th and RTC is eager to move new Sailors out, the possibility of putting them on planes immediately after graduation exists, no matter what you want to call it.

Nope, it doesn't happen any more. They would be moved to the 5th.
"Sailors transferring to “A” School Outside of Great Lakes: If your new Sailor is attending “A” School outside of Great Lakes, generally they will depart RTC the day after graduation." (See http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/fam_guide.asp.)
The last recruits to fly out on the day of PIR had PIR in the spring of 2011. The RTC changed the policy and now recruits who fly out will not fly out any earlier than sometime in the wee hours of the day after PIR. When flight availability is an issue, recruits fly out a day or so later, not earlier than the day after PIR.

So on the day of graduation after the ceremony (or even if they still don't leave until after the Fourth of July) are the recruits allowed to leave the base at all to spend time with family? Like go site seeing and etc

Yes, he will have Liberty from about 10:30 am until sometime that evening and can leave the RTC as long as he stays within 50 miles of the RTC. If he also has Liberty on the 4th, it would begin sometime between 6 and 8 am and he would be given the time to be back. Sometimes flight availability issues will move it later; or as is the case for those with a contract for CS, there is not space at the new command for Sailors who are waiting to class up, so the Sailors stay in the THU for a few days to a few weeks; or a Sailor will have issues that have to be resolved before the Sailor can fly out, so the Sailor is housed in the THU.
