I can't find a link off-hand, but I'm pretty sure lottery tickets would get him in trouble. A phone card is probably the best bet, and some photos, a nice, non-musical card. Not sure about the gift card, unless it is for one of the fast food places in Ricky Heaven, he can't use it anyway.

I was in boot camp for Christmas, really, it is harder for you than for him.
Thank you! I thought that would be the replay I would get.

Debbie
Stamps, phone card, letters thats about it! It is very hard, I know but it will be over soon enough.
Paula,

Thank you, that sounds good!

Debbie
Hi,

Thanks for your help, I was thinking of a phone card.

Debbie
Hi,

I know this is a silly question, but where do you get a postal money order, I never heard of it, post office?

Debbie
Please don't send off scratch off tickets. We really need to help our sons and daughters up hold the standards of bootcamp and stay focused on the the task at hand - passing the tests, the pt, the swim, and graduating.
I will not send anything, thank you for your help.

Debbie
Save the gifts other than a phone card for after boot camp. Just write lots of upbeat letters and send lot's of funny cards and such.
Thank you that is a great suggestion.

Debbie
you can send writing pens, phone card, letters, regular cards, digital watches with military time on them.
no food, no gifts, you can also send a wallet and thats pretty much it.
my son left for BC 12-15.
i send him a letter everyday with encouragment, joy, scriptures, and funny things that happen in my life. i tell him your going to make it and be the best sailor and to remember THAT THIS TO SHALL PASS, AND SOON BE ONLY A MEMORY, so hang on!!!!!!!!!!!

i hope i helped a little.

If you send a phone card, make sure you activate it first. Sometimes the kids don't know how to do that and waste precious minutes figuring it out.
