Today is our SR's Birthday....another day to get through and do our best to act "normal", when we all know its not normal to not even to get to say Happy Birthday...:(.....But on the bright side......before he left, we had a big going away, Christmas, Birthday Party for him....a house full of family and friends over just to celebrate these with and for him. So Happy Birthday, Hope it's a great day for you and you are fulfilling your dreams !!!

Happy Birthday to your SR!  Gotta love having given him that celebration before he left :-)

Thanks Hilary, and Happy Birthday to your SR today...

Thanks!  Hope he knows that he's being wished a happy birthday from home!

Happy Birthday to your SR.  He is probably remembering the great day with family and friends.

Thanks Connie, I really hope he was able to remember that day yesterday....that is what we were hoping for..:)

How is everyone holding up?  Still awaiting a real letter here.  I have sent several.  I am driving my family crazy researching flights for PIR.

We keep thinking there will be a letter any day and are a bit disappointed each time the mail comes. It's funny ... I think my husband is a little more anxious than me although he'd never admit it! We're set up for the graduation weekend ... I hope all is going as scheduled for our son, Alex. I keep sending cards and letters to him although they're rather dull. I figured just the excitement of getting an envelope is something for him to look forward to even if there's not a whole lot of news. It makes me think of "mail days" at summer camp! As soon as anyone hears anything, post it so we can all be excited!

I picture my son sleeping well after reading my letters.  I know they are boring but I am trying to add a joke or 2 to each letter.  Nothing goes on in my life, but I am thankful for that.  I work in an ER so excitement in life is not usually a good thing.

I am looking forward to anyone with SR's in this division getting a letter.  I know our boys are doing great.

Thank you for this forum! My son is Ship 3 Div 070- Left dec 12th- He just turned 20 November 2011. I believe he will be in engineering. Another proud mamas! Only received form letter, nothing else....My daughter and I are excited to see him at the PIR on Feb 17th. The sunday he left, we celebrated at church with a party with a ton of food and prayer- Our pastor purchased a smaller bible (military size) for him with his name "angelo" engraved on it- I am very thankful he is on the path the Lord has for him. God is always good. God bless all of the new SR's.

NO letter from my son yet!

Here is some useful info:

You do not have to rsvp for the Ramada Inn meet n greet reception, they will give you the 2 drink tickets and the finger foods from 6pm-8pm Thursday night. But you can do it on here anyway if you would like. You will want to get an early flight so you can get to hotel for relaxation, you can check in at 3pm, and maybe even earlier I was told. I spoke to Sheena tonight, she was most awesome! She told me to tell you guys that they are here for us 24 hours a day to answer any of our questions. Make sure the card you use to book reservation, you bring it with you, they need the card and you to charge the room. So don't forget it! If it's snowing don't worry, they are good at plowing the roads and salting them. You don't need chains for your car or rental vehicle. Also if your child is 12yrs or older just have them bring a school ID, and SS (but that is not necessary, just school ID) Bring proof of car insurance for SURE, if you have a rental car and get insurance through the rental, then they (the base) only need to see car rental contract. Ceremony starts at 9am, base opens at 6:30am. Ramada complimentary shuttle leaves at 7am-7:15am. You can leave then too with your rental car because they start seating at 8am. The base is located 10-15 minutes away from the Ramada Inn. She hooked myself and daughter up with a great room. I'm looking forward to meeting the other families and seeing my son graduate. God is good.
