Hi there,

How long did it take for your son to move to his new barracks?  About what time was he released for his liberty on Friday?  What time did he have to report back to base at night?  Also, how long did you get to spend with him in general on the morning of PIR?  Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated.  Also my son is SWCC.  Thank you!  Stacy

it took about 3 hrs.  Right after the PIR you can go down and hug him.  He was able to leave at 6 am and back at 10 pm.  He is EOD, so if you son is staying for div prep, you should have some of the same.  We had him after PIR and then SAT and SUN from 6-10..  He wanted to eat and nap. lol

Stacy, the best thing for me as a mom, was when I was able to drop him off at his new barracks and see it.  They have a BBQ and they all hang, and there is a Mcdonald next to it.   Made me feel so much better,  I had a hard time leaving (of course), but they have there new buddies, and they totally stay together. you should go  in and see the new barracks!

Best advice, after PIR when you pick him up, relax,   they are still on.

He said surreal.  Get food , let him talk, relax with him and get him back at least 30 min before due. they have a long walk.

Thank you so much!  And congratulations to your son as well!

One more thing, bring bannoculars ( sorry can't spell)

Is it worth bringing a camera and taking pics of the actual ceremony? Or are u too far away and people are blocking views from standing anyway?

by all mean bring your camera, try to get on the lower level, but up high, if that makes sense and you will want pics immediately after the ceremony.  It is truly amazing to see, you should ask you SR where he will be standing, and then you can find him withyou bannocs..  way cool, they are looking for you in the crowd, with out turning there heads lol...enjoy it take lot's of pictures....
