Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 820

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining this discussion to answer your questions about the "800" division.

Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

Excited I got a letter! Cried my eyes out! My son says its tough! Food is good, very homesick. Hope he can call this weekend.
Where are you guys in relation to bootcamp? I'm in colo and haven't recieved a letter yet:(:( I am hoping I get one soon!

I live about an hour away....I hope yours comes soon too! Hopefully tomorrow is the day!

Carolyn- yay!! So glad it came today:) I do hope we can all talk to our SR's this weekend!!!

Jaxietwo- I'm thinking brownies for your mailman might do the trick...and  if he produces a letter... maybe chocolate cake??

Well I got four letters so I might have to do more that brownies and cake!  So happy to hear from him.  His spelling is pretty good, but his penmanship could use some work - you did WHAT with WHO and then WHAT arggg!  He neeeds to send a decipher code next time!  He said they started out with 96 and are down to 81 - it is tough mentally but "he'll live"! Hoping they get to call this weekend!

I think your mailman wants a gift card to the local steakhouse!! haha

Wow! You had very specific info...thanks for helping us add more pieces to the puzzle!

To heymomlpn, as most of the other parents have stated, things happen for a reason. I am a firm believer in this. Whenever I have not gotten a job, or was disapointed something didnt go my way, I felt like there was something better out there for me. Same thing goes for our kids, I tell them everytime they are frustrated about something that didnt happen, that something better was coming their way:) My heart goes out to you and your kiddo, just be strong for him and encourage him to look to the future:)

I am getting worried that the Ramada Inn will not be a pleasant stay as many of you said they had bad reviews:( Should I switch? What did the reviews say?

I am surprised the Ramada got bad reviews, we stayed there for my daughter-in-laws graduation in March of 2012 and it was fine.  The only issue we had was that they did not put our rooms together and we had to walk a good ways back and forth to the other rooms were family was staying.  It was in a good location & we checked in & out pretty quick.  We already have our reservations to stay there again.

We are staying there too.  I was beginning to think I made a mistake, but it's all good.  They have an indoor pool and that was the main thing we were looking for.  My SR is a swimmer.

My daughter sent a log of sorts of a few of their days after they got off of Processing hold.  On Aug 15th, they were issued their Navy Working Uniforms, they had blood drawn, urine test, and took an academic exam.  16Aug - dental, medical, audiology.  17Aug-met their RDC and moved to their ship.  18Aug drill and went to the NEX.  19Aug got shots, including a large shot of penicillan in the butt.  20 AugBrief on UCMJ, drilled, and a speech from the CO. Sometimes they get BEAT - Better Education and Training), especially when there is too much talking.  On the 23rd they got their dog tags, and on the 24th they got BEAT, a lot, and she got to call home.  She says the hardest thing for her is living in the same room with 88 other females.

My daughter also said as of the 24th they had not received any mail, so it may be a bit before they can respond to us. She also said on of the RDC's favorite exercises is what the recruits like to call "Mario" push-ups - they go "down-up, down-up, down-up" really fast and sound like the one theme from Mario Brothers when the RDC gives the call.  My son understood exactly what my daughter meant, but I didn't until he played the theme for me.  I pray daily for these recruits for strength - mental, physical, and emotional.

Why were some of our recruits there so early? My son arrived on the 7th and he said he basically had to sit around for. Whole week.. Seems like they should have postponed a week..
