While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Got my husband's form letter on Monday, March 5. It was postmarked on March 1, so I'm thinking it takes about 2-3 business days to get from there to Austin, Texas. Hope that's helpful for anyone.
If anyone else's loved one is in this ship/division, please let me know. He's an AECF. I don't want anyone to go without letters so I was going to ask him if there was a particularly lonely recruit and organize some sort-of letter writing campaign so no one feels left out.

I did read that it could take up to 3 weeks.. I hate that.. I feel so empty.. sent another letter today.. Hope they are getting their letter ok

Well just to make you feel better, once he does send something out, it takes just 2 days to get to you no matter where you are. I got mine all the way i California in 2 days...it is worth the wait.

That is extremely helpful! I was really suffering yesterday--it was just one of those bad days where the world feels incomplete without him. When I got home, I did have a letter and I could barely contain my excitement--but it was just the DEERS paperwork. While not disappointing, it's still not a letter. I focused in on his signature--the first time I've seen his handwriting since the box with his stuff came home addressed in his hand--and just bawled for like 30 minutes lol

we received a letter from our son yesterday, i was so excited. made me cry, not really for what he said but just the fact that we heard from from him. i was getting so impatient. his girlfriend got one too. says that they are busy but can earn phone calls for good work. hopefully this is a good division and we will all be getting a call sooner rather than later!

I got 4 letters from my soldier in the past 4 days!! Apparently the mail has been getting kinda obstructed up there and their division is quite rowdy ("chatterboxes," to hear my husband say it) so they get suspended Mail Call sometimes. I have been writing down a list of questions for when we do get the call. Does anyone else know if this division is Grad 'n' Go? He said he isn't sure (even though a-school will be at the same great lakes facility) if he will have more than a few hours on Friday to spend with us, but from what I've read, if they are going to A-school at the same place, he will have liberty Saturday and Sunday as well. Any thoughts?

The term "Grad n Go" is obsolete and RTC has asked us to not use it anymore as it has caused confusion as to exactly what it is! :-)
So...they don't really "call" it anything anymore. The very basics? Those going to"A" school at TSC Great Lakes will depart RTC Command on Friday after PIR. They may have 30-60 minutes with you after PIR...then they will move over to TSC to check in and it will take about 3-5 hours for this process. They will then have Liberty the rest of PIR day with you until they have to return to TSC that night. They will have Saturday and Sunday with you (No overnights).
Those attending "A" school elswhere will usually Depart RTC Command on Saturday morning in the wee hours. 1-2 AM. There flight out could be anytime later that day. Ocassionally, these folk may leave on Sunday because of flight scheduling. They will be able to leave for Liberty directly after PIR and spend the rest of the day with you and return to RTC Command at night. You may go to the airport (Usually Midway or O'Hare) and meet your Sailor and spend time with them there. The Airlines have been very gracious in giving Family Gate Passes to go through security and wait with their Sailor. You may give them their cell phones and any other requested allowed items at the airport. They may not bring anything with them back to RTC Command after Liberty.
The times for return at night will vary. Your Sailor will know and most likely want to be back early. Plan for extra time depending on where you drop them off. It is a long walk back to their Ships and my son said they have to walk. Remember...on time...is late.

hallo... we got 3 letters !!!! i am so happy .... how you found out that their division is rowdy ? and what means GRAD n GO ? how much time do we aloud to spend with them ... i am wondering because how much nights i should reserve , so great to get letters ... i hold them close to me ... my heart jumps of joy ! have a good night tigerlily !

I have read and hear the same.. the weekend is yours..my son had A-School in Pensacola and I guess he will be leaving early Sat morn' after PIR..but I only live 2 and 1/2 hours away from Pensacola so I will deal with that

i guess our son will be leaving right away then also. he was told his a-school was going to be in connecticut. does anyone know if this would change for some reason? that is what our recruiter told us when he originally signed up. we are about 2-3 hours from connecticut so that's better than great lakes i guess.
