Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

SHIP 07 DIV 128 - Reporting for duty!!!
My son is in this division. Is anyone else's?
I received my form letter (but no box) and have sent out my first letter along with that great questionnaire and a SASE. I don't think I'll get 'The Box'. He was pretty adamant about not taking anything he didn't mind giving away. Any word from your children? How are you holding up? I'm doing a lot better than I thought I would. I still can't sleep thru the night, but I'm not crying at the drop of a hat as a was at first.
My son hates writing and reading, so I'm not sure how much I'll hear from him. That's why I found that questionnaire perfect for him. I'm going to look thru the other ones to send him another one later on. Has anyone found any other cool things to include in the letters.
I thought I'd start this discussion to at least find out how the division is doing in case my son doesn't tell me much. I think that if we all share (what we can share, of course), we'll be in the loop. I don't know about you, but just knowing helps keep me at ease. That's why I love this website and I check it everyday.

I got a phone call today! It was so good to hear from my son. Physically he is doing well. However, he is discouraged. It seems the unit has a bunch of goof offs that are not doing what they are supposed to do. As a result the whole group gets punished for the infractions of a few. This really bothers him but I think that part of BC is learning to work as a team. Hopefully those goofing off will wise up quickly.

Received a call from my son too! Same as yours: physically doing well, but down in the dumps about having to pay the price for the few goofing off. Said he was up until 2:30 this morning doing extra homework that was assigned to all because of a few who won't "shut up" when they are supposed to be quiet. He's ready for BC to be over so he can move on and away from those who are not taking this seriously.

It is a shame that a few can affect so many . My older son went through Army BC and said that it was the same way. He has been out of the Army for over 10 years now and he is close friends with some of the "screw ups" that he wanted to hit all those years ago.

I'm so glad for all of us! We REALLY needed to hear their voices, right? When I saw the 847 area code I screamed out my son's name and my husband (and sister-in-law who was visiting) came running to see what was wrong. =) I guess I got excited to see that area code!!!!
My son said he thinks he's put on a few pounds since he got there. He told me that he is the division R-POC. He told me that they hadn't gotten to bed until 2:30am and they were up by 4:30am. But he did say that things are slowly improving. He said they've lost 4 recruits so far. He didn't specify why, but he said some were for medical reasons and others for other issues, but was not specific.
The letter he wrote to us last week got returned to him because he wrote something wrong on the envelope, so I shouldn't expect a letter from him this week. He has the letter and will mail it out on Sunday. He has been receiving our letters. They only have one hour on Sundays to read their mail and write.
Phone calls are being given out as merits for excelling in something. The next official division call will be the "I am a sailor" call.
After we talked for a while, he called his girlfriend. His girlfriend told me that he sounded like he was holding back tears. When she asked, he said he had just hung up with me and he got emotional about it. I was balling crying as soon as I hung up with him, so you can imagine how much crying I did after talking to the GF.
I will sleep peacefully tonight and hopefully, will sleep thru the entire night! I hope all of you do, too. Sweet dreams, everyone!

How do you find out where your SR is going? I know that my son is going to Nuke school but the recruiter told my son that there is two - one in Virginia and one in South Carolina.

@Jennifercrazyplace, 30 Days?????? WOW!!!! You are right about the 76! Now that I remember... that's exactly what my son said. That they were down to 76. He didn't say they lost 4 (I assumed that I guess) just that they were down to 76 for a variety of reasons which he didn't go in to. Thanks for the info on the SR's going to FL. Mine is. I'm going to plan to stay until Sunday. All FOUR wisdom teeth???? WOW!!! Poor kid! I did ask my son if he had any of his pulled and he said that they haven't come in yet, so no dental work done, but several from his division had them pulled.
@Cathy, you are SOOOO right! The power of one phone call. It was sooo amazing to hear his voice!!!
My son didn't mention anything about behavior issues. Just that it's hard and that some kids are having a harder time than others adjusting. He said he's doing the best he can so he can graduate on time. I asked if he thought his division would graduate on time and he said that the division will graduate on time, but if an SR is having difficulty keeping up, the SR will be placed with another division and graduate at a later time. He's trying his best to remain as R-POC, but he knows that the position can be given to anyone else for any reason.
He also told me that he hurt his leg, but was able to take some time to rest it and that's all he needed. He said others have gotten hurt and have been pulled out of the division.
Yay!!!! I hope everyone is still on Cloud Nine right now! I lit my blue candle on FB and am keeping it on until he's home (right after A School). Have a great Thursday!!!

My SR, was told before he left for boot camp, that he would be going to FL. I have been watching the other discussion groups on here too. Well, I am tired, and i need to finish my letter, good night all! So glad to have you all here and can't wait to meet you all in person.
