Got 4 letters today! Definitely made my day! Oh and ladies... I just talked to someone from another site, and she said she got a phone call earlier today... It is time for their 3 week mandatory phone calls she said!!! Just a heads up so you can pay special attention to your phones! I'm so excited to hear his voice! Really hoping it comes tonight!

Hi everyone..Just checking in. I haven't rec'd any letters or calls from my boys lately. I think with the oldest's injury, no news is good news!! I've searched medical discharge on this site and it did not make me feel better. I read that they medically discharge for minor things such as sleep walking!!! I'm hoping that the chiropractor helped him out and he's back on track!! I'm so happy to hear some of you have rec'd letters and calls but I have to admit when I heard that the division had a few bad mouths, my first thought was...I hope it's not my son!!! LOL  I watched a few videos on YouTube of PIR ceremonies and I started to cry...can't wait to go! I spent a good part of yesterday checking out airline tickets and hotels. I'm coming from CA. I know the form letter recommended to purchase refundable air tickets but they are double the price of the bargains. It will cost our family of three $2700.00 Ouch!, so we might risk it and go with the cheaper non-refundable. Has any one found any good deals on hotels??? I'll keep everyone posted if I run across any. Take care and enjoy your calls and letters!!!

Hi!! Where from ca are you coming from? I live in victorville... I found flights from ontario to ohare plus a car for $499 and then the room will cost $230 because I'm planning on staying for 4 nights. When I was looking for tix for me and my husbands parents, I included a room, car, and 3 tix for about $1200. I'll write you more when I get off work... Its a lot to write on my phone. :) Also, keep by your phone because I heard its time for their 3 week phone calls!!

Hi Brettany..I'm north of you in the central valley. I'm out in the country between the bay area and Fresno in a small town called Dos Palos.  I'm anxious to hear from you later about the good deal you got! The cheapest flight I found was from San Jose to Ohare Southwest direct flight for $408. roundtrip. So that would be $1200 for us three just for the flight. That is the price of a non-refundable ticket to get refundable it looks like they're double. I'm nervous about getting non refundable with having two boys in and one already hurt. I just wish we had more communication with them so I could get a feel if they will graduate together? Thanks for the heads up about the phone calls and thank goodness for cordless phones! I'll look forward to hearing from you later.

Try Orbitz! They are who I usually go through.  I was planning on getting the car and flight together and then the room separately.  They have insurance you can get on your tickets and stuff so that if you have to you can change or cancel your flights without paying an arm and a leg for it.  There are a few hotels around the base that give special discounts for those attending PIR.  I am going to be checking into that before I book. A good site for extra discounts is http://www.military.com/discounts/deal-details/378836

Have you gotten a call yet? I'm still waiting.

So I looked into Orbitz for you and for 3 round trip tickets from San Jose to Chicago, a hotel room, and a car (From Thursday 2nd -Monday 6th) it comes to $1570!! Just thought youd like to know!  And then you can buy the insurance for like $30 extra per person and that covers you if anything changes! =)  Hope this helps!  Have a good night!
@ Sons graduating what a proud Momma !!  Instead of refundable air line tix, I just bought the insurance Because I figured if anything I would use the tix another time.. If anything like graduation gets pushed back.. Maybe you might look into that...

I got a letter today and my husband was talking about your boys. Well sort of haha! He said, "Oh I heard you are friends with the ******** brothers mom!" I thought that was pretty cool! He said they were all doing well.  They had to get some EXTRA IT this past week because people were having trouble marching properly.  He didn't have to though because he was SIQ from having 6 teeth pulled.

Where are you planning on staying for graduation? Are either of your boys Grad n Go?  Mine has to be at the airport at 2 am on Saturday morning, but at least we will have Friday after PIR together.  I will be leaving on Sunday though.  He will be home that Wednesday to pick me up with all of our stuff to move to SC! I cannot wait!!

Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day! Hang in there! We are almost done!!!! =)

-Brett

Hi Proud Parents !!  Just wanted to share that I received my 2nd letter from my daughter today! She seems to be doing well although she failed the PFA and plans on passing it no matter what.  She also said she has not gotten any mail which has upset me because I just mailed a 6th letter today, I`m hoping that she has gotten them after she wrote her letter it was written on easter. I don`t know how long it takes for mail to get there or what the process is for the recruits to get the mail.

Still wishing for the phone call... Any other Mom hear from their recruits lately is this group?

GREAT NEWS!  Yesterday, at approx. 3:30 PM, I received a phone call from my son...while I was shopping at Kohls!  He said that his entire division was given permission to phone home yesterday...so I'm surprised to see that nobody else has posted that they, too, received a call!  My SR sounded very positive...said he had positively no regrets about joining the Navy...which helped to ease my mind!  He was excited about receiving their dress uniforms.  Also said that they seem to do more "IT" (intensive training) than "PT"...but he felt that he was getting stronger evey day!  The phone, he was using, seemed to be in bad shape...it was very difficult to hear him and the connection kept breaking-up...but he said he could hear me loud and clear!  I thought maybe the reason for the bad reception was because I was inside a store...but I went outdoors and the connection did not improve:  Regardless...I was tickled to death to FINALLY hear his voice after all this time!  And he had not one negative thing to say...other than he was going to have to throw-away some of the letter I've sent him as there was not enough room to store them all...and I told him that was OK!  Sure hope other family members received phone calls yesterday too!  Let me know if you did!  GO NAVY!!!
That's so great you got to hear from him. Still nothing from my sailor. Hopefully soon.
09/190 their brother division made calls yesterday too.  Tell your SR to spread a little sunshine on the other side of the room!  My kid is bummed out right now from oral surgery, a sinus infection, a demerit, and being yelled at 24/7. Who sez BC is fun?
