Same here! Got talk to him for about 20 minutes and then handed my phone off to his brother, with reassurance he will be calling again tomorrow and during the upcoming week. No WATCH tonight for my son so he finally get to sleep.  He sounded very good and upbeat and so looking forward to Friday!  It's all good.

So glad for him, Cindy!  My son called around 4:30, then at 5:00 he begged off to go eat, since he had watch for a couple of hours afterwards.  I am sure he slept last night, but he still sounded tired!  I hope all is well with them tonight.  They have done well, and I'm so proud of all our sons/boyfriends/husbands/etc.

I don't know when that was, momofanuke, but he did call about 4:30 p.m., just before dinner.  You are so sweet and kind, and so is your son.  I am so grateful for our group.  So grateful.  So funny, he told me one of his RDC's teased him a little about my post on one of their random photos.  LOL  He sounded good.  He still sounded a little tired.  He said they lost one of their division men during their last PFA.  I don't know who it was, but he said they all really felt for him, since he had made it this far.  Do you know of that?  I feel so for his loved ones, and how they must be feeling.  Evidently a bit older than our kiddos...someone in his 20s.  He also said the photos of them in their firefighting coveralls was right after some exhausting classes and suddenly there was a lady standing there with a camera; that cracked me up.  How weird some experiences must be.  Random Photos really means random.  LOL!  Thank you again for all of you having so much concern for me.  I was hysterical yesterday...just beside myself.  I'm a little embarrassed, but I know it came from a good place...my concern for Ethan's morale.  I also had time to think after I was calm, and checked my cell's voice mail.  Yes, he had left me a voice mail message yesterday, and I was so upset at missing his call that it didn't even occur to me to check.  I'm a mess.  Anyway, love you guys.

I got to talk to Patrick for 40 minutes! After one more missed call today that was exactly what I needed! He said that they have to pay for faster internet, they have free slow internet. Just like 5 dollars for faster though! He sounded so happy and excited for Friday! I just can't believe I actually talked to him! It was amazing hearing his voice after the long seven weeks!

Got to talk to our son yesterday for about 25 min. The phone connection was so bad that it was hard to hear him at times but he is doing good and they are having a good time just getting to hang out and relax at the nex and getting to eat junk food.  I think they have all missed their Mt. Dew etc. They are so looking forward to PIR on Friday as we all are-- Hope to see ya all at Sarge's on Thursday and PIR on Friday

@katey.marie, so sorry Patrick was ill.  You're probably right about the junk food upsetting his system!  If I know my boy, he'll just go for the salty stuff, and maybe some colas.  He once went for 4 years without a soda, just to keep a promise to himself, so what I lack in self-control, he has in spades.  lol

I hope that everyone has a safe trip, and that our Sailors all have a great prep week for graduation.  I'm starting to wonder what his "compartment" will look like at A school.  Will it, too, be like a ship, or more like a dorm room?  Does anyone know?  :)

Patrick got sick and was throwing up on Saturday, I think it was because he started eating junk food and candy! His body's not used to it!!!

eeewww Katey!  But after speaking with my son yesterday, the Taco Bell was having issues with his intestines! ;)  He did tell me about some things that happened when they first arrived and glad I didn't know any of it then!  Can't wait to see everyone Thursday night at Sarge's Meet/Greet and then FRIDAY!

I am adding another post because I had a wonderful long conversation with Sarge this morning.  Keep in mind that this gentleman has been in Great Lakes for years and is retired military.  In my opinion he goes above and beyond duty for all the Sailors and their family/friends.  Can't wait to met him in person.  He asked me to post a few things:  first, please call or send him a message if you have any questions/concerns.  He is more than happy to answer those.  He will be unavailable for a few hours this evening but he will get back to you.

Sarge said they WILL NOT get their A school orders until Friday morning with flight details.  Sarge said the majority of the sailors going to Pensacola fly out of Midway between 12:30 and 6:30 a.m... of course NOTHING is wrote in stone and CAN change at the last minute.  Sarge said that YOU need to bring his cell phone, laptop (if he wants it), and BOXER SHORTS!  He can put all of that into his duffle bag that he will take on  his   flight.                                                                                          Now details about Friday from Sarge:  He said there is NO reason to be at the gate before 7:30 a.m..  Traffic will be backed up a mile before that time.  P.I.R. will be completed by approx. 10:35 a.m..  We will then get our sailor(s)  :)  He does NOT recommend driving into Chicago, 99.9 % of the sailors just want a nice meal, a nap, downtime and time alone with their families and girl/boyfriends!  And make sure they get back to training command before 8:00 p.m..  I found out so much from Sarge and he put my brain to rest regarding alot of the details

I appreciate Sarge giving us all this information but I was talking to my son and asked him about his cellphone, etc.  He told me that I can give him the cellphone off base and he can not take it back with him on base and he needed permission if he can take it with him to Pennsocola.  Also he said that everything goes in phases and has to be earned so I would check with our sailors and make sure that we do not get them in trouble.

Great point Tylersmom.  I am glad you pointed that out.  My son also told me everything had to be earned in phases.  Wishing now that I could delete those posts, last thing I want is for any of the sailors to get in trouble!

You can delete your posts if your want to.  I know I have before, but can't remember at the moment!  :P  lol   Oh, yeah, there's a little x that appears in the top right hand corner of the post if you hover the cursor over it.  :)
