I'm very crafty and have pay pal and was thinking of making ribbons for everyone if you send me like a dollar per ribbon you needed. I'd need to start pretty soon, and if their PIR changes, I'm willing to mail them.

My boyfriend is Ship 11 Division 252. I already have my airplane tickets, and have yet to get a hotel room. His recruiter told me it's safe to buy the tickets now because there is as much chance now of failing as week 8 when they hit battle station's.

So if you want one, get in contact with me and I'll get it rolling.

We are arriving 11:30 am Thursday... and decided to stay overnight Saturday, just in case our son will have the day to spend with us. We fly out Sunday 7:15 am.

He'll have liberty Friday, and depending when their flight leaves Saturday is how much liberty they will have. Like if your son's flight was at noon, he would have liberty until 10:30-11, unless you had flight with that day too, you have to say bye then. I hope that makes sense. They basically have liberty until 1-1.5 hours before their flight, when they call with the "I'm a Sailor" call they should know their flight schedule, but they could have to wait for it until the morning of PIR.

Diane our son's A school is in Florida as well.

I think from what I've read that it depends on when they fly out as to how much time they will have. For sure they should have Friday until 8-9 p.m.

everyone please keep coming to this page. There are moms and other members who don't "do" facebook and they will be looking for support here. Some of them are here just reading posts who are too shy to post anything their selves so they rely on what they read here to get them through this experience. If you want some great facebook groups here are the ones I have seen the most activity on. Also remember some group are closed and some are not. You should never post any private info or ship movement, Sailor travel details on any page or group no matter if it is private, closed or open. Always be safe and keep your Sailor safe.

Just got a letter from my son today... It's breaking my heart to hear how miserable he is!

I've been a military wife for 12 years... now I'm on the "Mom" side of it... somehow the words "suck it up and drive on" don't quite equate in this situation!

It's hard to let go of those maternal instincts you've had for so many years... I still want to "protect" him and make the "bad stuff" go away.

Lord Give Me Strength!

Diane,  yes he's going to Pensacola. Not sure what AO is?

Thanks for the well wishes ... we've started a prayer chain for him!

AO stands for Aviation Ordnanceman. My husband is going to Pensacola for IT so I have been researching the base :)

Pensacola has the following A-schools:

  • Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training
  • Center for Information Dominance
  • Naval Education and Training Command

Thanks My Sailor's Anchor...

I knew he was going Aviation... just not sure what AO stood for.

My daughter is an AO and my son-in-law is an IT. With AO they can choose ship or squadron. If they are ship company they will be below deck loading weapons, if the choose squadron they are on deck with the jets or on land in a hanger. My daughter is with a squadron, The Ragin Bulls in VA and they are attached to the Truman. When it deploys they go with it. She launchs and catches F-18's. Pretty cool job :-)

My son graduated last Dec, my nephew is in your div.  My son's first letter was hard to read, he was miserable and having a hard time, but the next letter was better.  Now he looks back on bootcamp and grins and tells horrible funny stories.  Hang in there

I GOT A LETTER. He is doing SO good. He says it's really easy for him, and that he loves his NWU's. He misses his ramen though! He has a good job and has made tons of friends, I don't know their actual names, only nicknames. So if your son says their friends with "Bruce Lee" I know who it is. :D

JessicaAnna .... so glad to hear some great news!!!  :-)
