Anyone else? He left on The 13th and I haven't heard anything from him. It's just too early right?

I just received a 25 min phone call from my son.  He needed still more info for sec. clearance stuff.  I'll fax it to him today.  They did let him talk for an extra 20 min. to which I am very grateful!  He told me that they are headed into battlestations tonight and that we should expect a call either early tomorrow, sometime tomorrow or possibly the next day.  He said everyone should get a chance to call and tell them they've passed!  That's when they go from being a recruit to a sailor! He's looking forward to going off base after graduation for just a few hours.  Oh - and he wanted candy/chocolate then!

I love this site, thank you so much for sharing, I'll have my phone on me at all times.

has anyone in this group been to Chicago before, any suggestions of places we can visit while we are there, after we drop off out Sailor.  also is anyone going to one of those meet and greets, it sure be nice to meet you all.

We live around 5-6 hours away and will be driving.  We have been there several times.  Chicago is a great city.  Expensive with food but really great!  Sites to see - Navy Pier, Willis Tower (former Sears Tower), Hancock Tower/Observatory, Field Museum (they filmed Night at the Museum there), Shedd's Aquarium, The Cloudgate (mirror looking bean) - it's free, Magnificent Mile (tons of shopping - Original Crate & Barrel Store), American Girl Place, Hershey's Store and on and on.  The tour bus with the double decker is really great with giving tours and well worth the price.  In Summer there are boat tours on the Chicago River. Very informative about the Architecture & History of the City.  Google Chicago & sightseeing.  There are many more places to visit.  The theater is really great there too!  Hope this helps...

Thank you so much for the input, we wanted to be sure to visit atleast a couple of touristy stuff, that is different from Seattle. The "bean" is a for sure, I would love to go to the museum, but I might have to ditch the husband.:):):)

jlvk, THANKS so much for the update! It is awesome that he got to call. You mentioned Security Clearance & I looked back thru the earlier pages and see he is going to Monterey, so he must be going for Linguist School.  If I can make one suggestion for you to pass on, is to make a copy of the SF86 and keep it in a safe place.  You have to update it every 5 years. I know this because my husband was a Navy Cryptologist for 28 years and I currently work for the National Security Agency & have a clearance at the same level your son will get. It is now called the IC community and consists of what used to be cryptologists, analysts, and linguists to name a few. He may even end up at my HQ in Ft Meade, MD at some point if he makes it a career!  I will be patiently waiting for that call....

Yes on all accounts though I'll have to find out what the SF86 is.  Probably clearance paperwork - I assume. He is soooo looking forward to Monterey!  Hopefully we will be able to visit him while he's there at A school. He does want to make this a career or at least in your line of work at NSA.  Hopefully you'll hear a call real soon too!

Prayers are sent to all of the Ship 12 Div 074 Recruits tonight!! Please keep them safe & strong!!........ HOOYAH!! Lets hope we all get calls from our New Sailors tomorrow!!

Div 073 are all now sailors hopefully you will get your call soon.

tHEY ARE CALLING, JUST GOT MY CALLED ABOUT 20 MINUTES AGO. I'M SMILING EAR TO EAR, PEOPLE AT WORK ARE MAKING FUN OF MY SILLY FACE.

I too got my call at work literally just as I was ready to walk out the door. The two retired military guys who sit in my office walked out & shut the door after handing me the box of Kleenex! So very proud. He said he was very tired, but it was fun! Congrats to all of TG13!

WOOHOO!!! My son's Fiance got the call too when I was driving home!!! We have a Sailor!!! Couldn't be any prouder!! February 17th can't get here fast enough!!

My son called me this afternoon on my cell.  I was in the bank parking lot trying to get as much info as I could.  He said that Battlestations wasn't too difficult but he pretty much lost his voice from yelling, etc.  He is really looking forward to graduation & visiting downtown Chicago!
