Sean also said some things take to long to explain in a letter so when we come out for graduation he will explain to us some things he wasn't able to go into detail on. Such as the street hit. He has alot of explaining to do.LOL I know he well tell us all about it some day but I am not going to spend my whole weekend having him explain certain things. We will only be in GL for 4 days.
You have to stay at the Ramada to go to the meet and greet. I am annoyed at my husband for that. Oh well. So cheap he squeaks. LOL It was pretty expensive for all of us to fly out so he is trying to save somewhere. We also want to do some things with our son and I don't plan on sitting at the motel. I saw your post about your son going to A school in CA. Good Luck to him. Sean said for us to bring his cell phone because he has made alot of friends and wants to add them to his list of contacts. He also mentioned something about them starying in GL for A school also. I don.t know about your son but ours does not regret at all his decision to join the navy. He is a real go getter. Good for him just like his Mom LOL Yes boot camp went fast but the last 2 weeks are really dragging for me. 2 more days of work and we are off to GL. Take care and hope to meet up with you at graduation. Gail
I called the Ramada and they said anyone can go to the meet & greet. We will be getting into the Chicago area around 2pm so we will see you at the meet and greet. I am getting so anxious and nervous that I can't wait for this week to be over. I just want to give my son a big hug & kiss. We are so very proud of him.
Yes we will see everyone at the meet & greet. I bought a card at the Hallmark store. It says T.A.Y.A.T.T. (thinking about you all the time) and on the inside it says I know how the military loves initials. I will send the card out this week. His birthday is this month and I even found a nice military birthday card.I bought a son card too. You think I'm a little anxious to get out to GL or what. LOL I THINK WE ARE ALL ANXIOUS TO SEE OUR LOVED ONES.

I wish all the loved ones of ship 13 division 242 Good Luck with BS21 on Tuesday. I will keep them all in my thoughts and prayers. I keep all the recruits and sailors graduating on 7/9 in my thoughts and prayers every day.

Take care, Gail
Everyone have a safe trip. I don't know about anyone else but I am looking forward to seeing my son on Friday.
Thank you. We will see you at the meet and greet tomorrow night.
Hi ladies. My heart is aching for our guys. I had to cancel our hotel reservations due to not knowing what was going on or risk losing a lot of money. There are 10 of us making the trip. I did call around to other hotels and think that we will be able to get rooms Thursday morning ( I guess that is now today) as we are driving to Great Lakes. I tried calling public relations at Great Lakes and every extension voice mail was full so I was unable to leave a message. We called there at the suggestion of our recruiter. We figure we can always turn around and come back home. I am praying for all of the division and each of you. I am unable to sleep at this point. Thanks for all of your comments and support.
I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend. I know we had a wonderful weekend with our new sailor. He looked great and almost is a little different. What a gentleman. Friday we went into Chicago and had Gino's and walked around for a bit. Saturday we took him for a buffet breakfast and the waitress told him we have a buffet breakfast with real eggs and real OJ and you can spend more than 12 minuties to eat and that was an order. We went back into Chicago after to the museum. Sunday we spent the day at the mall where we met some of his shipmates and just relaxing before we had to drop him off in the everning for us to go home. Well this morning was another story when I broke down at my desk and cried like a baby. I am really missing him today. We are very happy for him though because he is doing what he wanted to do.He wanted to serve his country. We are as proud as proud can be of our son.
kyericsmom, I am glad your son thought it was funny. I was really concerned for Sean and his shipmates. I am happy everything worked out for him. Where is your son going to A school? Sean is staying in GL for Eleictricians Mate. It was really nice to spend the weekend with our sons. It went by very fast. Good Luck to your son with A school.
We have not heard from our son yet but he told us when we were in GL they officially become sailors on wednesday. I know he mentioned something about calling this week with his new address and list of personal belongings he will want for A school. I am looking forward to that phone call. From the posts on GL A school it doesn't look like they call that often. They are always busy studying. I was going to write him a letter tonight and send it to his old addrss and he said they will forward the mail.

You mentioned his first plane ride. Do you live close to GL? How did he get to boot camp?

I hope he had fun on his first plane trip. That is always exciting.
We just received a call from our son. He gave us his address and a short list of personal belongings. It was nice to hear his voice. He is in a room with 3 other sailors. We live in NJ. He told me the sooner we send his phone the more he can call. FedEx here I come. LOL

I am glad your son arrived safely in Pensacola and you heard from him.

Take care, Gail
Hello to all, was just reading all of your post and giggling. Our son called yesterday, and the first words out of his mouth were "Mom can you please to to Fedex and ship my phone"? Immediately, I grabbed the bluetooth and headed to Fedex while we chatted just long enough for him to give me the address to send it to. PIR 7/09/10, was the most amazing event that I have ever witnessed. Was looking forward to meeting more of you at the meet&greet, but time just escaped me. So very happy for all. Congrats to all of your Sailors!!
